Look at this game, Maxi & Schwer are the same player :

http://warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=3269044

I began to suspect it at turn 25 & 26, when Schwer played cards to protect Maxi against me,although he has strictly no interest to do it.

But the most fun is on the chat, at turn 43, when Schwer talked for Maxi, he forgot that he was logged with this account.

Even cheating like that, he miserably lost with his two account, but he blocked my advance & distort the game, good reason to blacklist (ban ?) them.

Uhh, that's not cheating. Its a FFA. Its no different than two players being permanent allies.

No, its still not cheating even if they're the same person. Colluding in an FFA is explicitly not against the rules. Now if this were a team game and the two accounts were on different teams, that's a whole other story. But it wasn't.

Since, essentially, every single player is their own team in an ffa, that is like having two accounts on different teams.

Making a 3 player ffa where you are 2 of the players is like having a 2v1, only the individual doesn't know what they signed up for.

i'm sure yuri's post has clarified everything for everyone.

working together in ffas where 1 account is helping another win while disregarding it's own victory is cheating, i don't think that's debateable...

No it isn't. Once again, this is *explicitly* not against the rules. Check non-rule #3 here: http://wiki.warlight.net/index.php/Rules

No. You're missing the point behind calling multi-accounting in a team game cheating. It has nothing to do with ganging up on a third team. It's cheating because you are necessarily sabotaging at least some of your teammates. If there's a 2v2v2 game and you have an account on team A and team B and use them to coordinate against team C, that's not cheating. If you use your account on team A to sabotage that team so team B will win, that is cheating. This doesn't apply to "teams" of 1 player, because sabotaging yourself is your own choice.

Non-rule #3:

>Players working together is not against the rules, and you should not report players for doing so. To avoid collusion, play in 1 v 1 games where collusion is impossible, or in team games (since then the collusion is pre-arranged), or just play with friends you trust.

>Players working together is not against the rules

>Players working together

>Players

>s

Note the plural, obviously it refers to truces between two different players in ffas, not multi-accounting.

Its not an advantage if you can accomplish the exact same thing with two separate people.

So if two separate people did the exact same thing it wouldn't be cheating, but because it was the same person hitting the button, it is cheating? That makes no damn sense whatsoever.

GMontag, who said against the rules? i was talking about cheating, which by my definition means playing unfairly

seems pretty explicitly against the rules to me though... one account is giving an advantage to the other
and you can't accomplish the same thing with 2 separate people except if you found someone willing to help you cheat, it's not like prearanged alliances, it's 2 people going in where 1 person is there only to help the other

I would argue that two people collaborating to similar ends would also be cheating, but there is no way to prevent people from doing that other than blacklisting them.

It's also important that if two separate people did it, one would eventually have to lose, unlike in multi-accounting where it is the multi-account who is sacrificed for the real account. If someone wants to throw all their matches you can't really stop them. If someone joined your team in an open game, and proceeded to attack his teammates and reveal information to the opponents (regardless of whether he knew them), it wouldn't be cheating. They would just be a dick.

If you made a 3p FFA, and I joined with my capybara, eliminated you, and then surrendered on the capybara account, would you be on the forum rushing to my defense? Or would you report me?

Also, before your argument was that it was "*explicitly* against the rules". Now you have been proved wrong on that account (wordplay!) you are claiming that the rules are unfair to people operating more than one player?

You also seemed a little bit preoccupied with the sabotage of teammates, but like I said, if you want to go around pissing people off, you can. Whether or not you know the people who are getting an advantage out of it.

yes. using alternate accounts to gain advantage is cheating. even in FFA.

You shall not operate more than one WarLight account in a way that gives you an advantage in a game, tournament or ladder.

it's pretty explicit.

or would you think it would be a fair game if you would join a ranked 6 person FFA where 1 person would be me, 4 of them my alt accounts, and the other one you?

if the two accounts are friends, sure, it's legal, extremely unfair against everyone else and i would blacklist them anyways, but legal. if they are the same person it's cheating.

Gmontag is absolutely correct. It's not cheating. It's brilliant. Why think so much in a fair game if you can get the win in an easier way. Life is short, relax more.
