Bostons were good. his 5 and 6 were terrible but that is his way...

If boston had passed 1 from tibet to myanmar first move and then taken india from myanmar and then tibet (giving him 3 dummy moves instead of 2) it would have been a really peachy first turn for him.

Lesson: Dont make critical attacks unless you are absolutely sure you have last move order.

myhand, glad I wasn't the only one confused by that attack. Sure, if it works it effectively ends the game but the same happens if it fails. Just a foolish, risky play. Far better playing it conservative there.

Nope. Think about it. If attacking doesn't make sense for your opponent why would it for you in the exact same situation?

Had you gotten first turn instead of him then the situation would have been reversed and he would have eliminated you from Central America. Gambling on who gets first (and last) turn is plain foolish and risky. Had he sat back and just defended you would have been in a bad position the following turn.

It's not just gambling on first order. It's also gambling on whether the opponent deploys fully.

Not saying this was one of them, but some games where you're behind off picks, or where you can finish a bonus faster than them, being that aggressive turn 1 is quite sane.
