Everybody went batshit when I booted red from a real-time game in my thread. WTF? How is this anywhere near acceptable?

When did I refuse to play? I thought I had three days to take my turn and I damn sure thought that he wouldn't be booting me 5 seconds after he was able to. I wouldn't have done that.

I was way behind and wanted to think hard before I took my turn, to try and come up with a way to give myself a chance. I've been busy the last couple of days and didn't have a chance - but I was going to take my turn for sure.

I guess I've put myself in this position, even when I'm clearly in the right nobody will take my side. But this is fucking ridiculous. If I did this to him or anybody else everybody who be telling me how wrong I was for doing it.

I tried your tricks against zib and when I didn't win by turn 5 I lost because I couldn't expand fast enough.

aww I am on your side, booting is always bad. Winning by boot while the other person is thinking is no win at all.

We all know winning by boot is not great. Ryan didn't win by boot though. He was in a much better position then you and would have won that game.

Out of interest, why did you pick Russia at all when the only non-wastelanded bonus next to you was terrible and you had to go through a wastelanded bonus to get to an expandable bonus?

uh, ya, he did. his first post here was asking if people thought he won or not.

some games it's 100%. some games its 50/50. this game was neither. i'd say his odds of winning were probably 80-90%. but that still 10-20% chance of my win - and he fucking robbed me off that by adding something to the settings which is non-standard, not what we agreed to and then enforcing it with no discussion.

seems you guys are his friends and don't want to call him out when he behaves badly. that's what he has done here, friend or not.

I wouldn't call Ryan a friend as such-we have only played in three games together (one of which is a chat game).

I just think he is in the right here. I don't think it takes you two days to think of and complete a move. Even if it did, you must have had time judging from your forum activity. You are scraping the barrel for excuses now.

Why don't you tell us what you would have done if you weren't booted, then the community can judge whether you had a chance of winning.

I always think the boot timer is at 2 days personally.

As for the boot - This time i have to admit I am on Billy's side - that is if and only if Ryan booted him manually, cause when i open the game, it displays nothing, like it would be an autoboot.. and if it's the case here, then sorry Billy, but you just have to watch the autoboot time. By the way - i cannot imagine ever not looking at at least the boottimes in a challenge. (i did once when i was playing a 2v2 tournament with ultimaratio - it ended up with maybe 5 boots on me, which ruined the whole tournament for us. That was a lesson worth taking, since i never did that mistake again..)

Ryan - If you booted manually, then no matter how you dislike the opponent, in a challenge you should always wait for autoboot, and in NO game should you boot anybody without at least asking in chat if he was there and waiting time relevant to boottime for a reply. (a few minutes in realtime and a day or two in multiday - but that's just my opinion)

Billy - you are wrong - you had 0% chance to win this. you were broken with practically all your income threatened directly, while Ryan was very safe thanks to both simple distance and blockade in spain..

What I'm trying to say is: Although Ryan did boot (which some may consider unsportsmanlike, and others not as Billy refused to play), it didn't make too much of a difference as Billy couldn't have won.

The game was pretty much over anyway. Just make rules for when to boot that you both agree on, and deal with this game if it's making a difference to the final outcome. If someone wins 15-5 regardless of this first game, then who cares?

You keep repeating this but it simply isn't true. I never stated here or in chat that I wasn't going to play. I was just taking a break at a very critical spot in the game. Some say the game was over, I say it was probably over the next turn if I did not pull off a miracle in this turn. So I was trying to come up with such a miracle.

For him not to even say something here or in chat, reminding me of the boot times and asking if I was going to boot, is ridiculous. He sat there hoping that he would have the opportunity to boot me and did so immediately once the time expired and he could.

Him not responding here is very telling. He also knows he is wrong.

We were playing realtime, i forgot to make it a real time game, i didn't change any settings it is the standard 1v1 strategic template. You were on for at least 30 minutes that night after you stopped playing we were playing real time and then you realized you lost and hoped that you would be able to avoid it by waiting until the last second every time. Face it, im 3-0 against you and im not that great. YOU ARE NOT VERY GOOD

Also sorry i did not respond in the 12 hour period that this happened, i was sleeping and then went to school
