Carlsen is the best player of the world now, but is more positional and... I definitly prefer the style of Kasparov, more aggressive and spectacular!
And he's also a good writer. I have read with pleasure Kasparov's books :)

I love Kasparov's playing style, too! Carlsen simply outplays everyone else, but in his era, Kasparov did the same... with many more aggressive games. I think they both have done a lot to expand the chess-playing community, and I hope they continue, though I'm not sure how honest the FIDE elections have been this time around. It sounds like it's been a real mess for both sides.
Carlsen v. Anand, 2014 is going to be intense!

Yeah, it will be very interessing!
I like also Kasparov's innovation, for example in the Miesis variation of the scotch game or just in the Evans Gambit :) Always aggressive, beautiful!

I love studying his games. As for my own playing, I tend to err on the aggressive side but I'm definitely not a professional player.
One of my finer moments on the board was this:
G90 tournament, 2013 ish Unknown v. Witherell: 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Nf6 4. Ng5 d5 5. exd5 Na5 6. Bb5+ c6 7. dxc6 bxc6 8. Ba4 Nd5 9. O-O?? Qxg5 10. c4 Nf4 11. Qf3 Bh3! 12. Bxc6+ Nxc6 13. Qxc6+ Ke7 14. Qxa8 Bxg2 15. Qxa7+ Bb7# 0-1

Yep! He's one of those Disney characters that start off as a somewhat arrogant nutcase, but eventually grows into a hero. Watching him develop as a person (and discover, and then re-discover, reality) is one of the things that keeps me coming back to the Toy Story series.

I was about 1450, 1500 USCF my senior year of high school, though I've beaten my fair share of 1800s. I haven't had time to play in chess tournaments in college, but I do some blitz on chess.com and I'm usually rated around 1600 there. What about you?

You're from Switzerland? Cool! I've been there a few times to visit a good friend of my family, and I loved it.
