My apologies if I've come across as bragging! My intention here is to simply let this community know who I am and what I do for a living. There's always an offhand chance (no matter how small) that someone I know here could become a professional contact back in reality. I'm not expecting it to happen, but such is the way of networking: you introduce yourself, share who you are and make friends, and that might open up new opportunities later. :)
@ Master Adrianokx, sorry to disapooint! I often hope that if the real Kasparov were to know of how I use his name here, he would approve.
Yes, I am sure Kasparov would be very satisfied with some random fanboy taking his name in a strategy game. He would find your representation of him much better than his own and would fully approve.
Well, when you put it like that . . . of course he would! I'm sure he'd also love to see that I've put up a photo of Magnus Carlsen as my profile picture.
I love Kasparov's playing style, too! Carlsen simply outplays everyone else, but in his era, Kasparov did the same... with many more aggressive games. I think they both have done a lot to expand the chess-playing community, and I hope they continue, though I'm not sure how honest the FIDE elections have been this time around. It sounds like it's been a real mess for both sides.
Yep! He's one of those Disney characters that start off as a somewhat arrogant nutcase, but eventually grows into a hero. Watching him develop as a person (and discover, and then re-discover, reality) is one of the things that keeps me coming back to the Toy Story series.
I was about 1450, 1500 USCF my senior year of high school, though I've beaten my fair share of 1800s. I haven't had time to play in chess tournaments in college, but I do some blitz on chess.com and I'm usually rated around 1600 there. What about you?
