I am in the process of creating a WW1 map for Europe. I'm around 2/3 of the way done with drawing, and I already have all bonuses figured out except Russia and Spain. I based territory and bonuses off of number of troops mobilized. Except for countries that were neutral or mobilized less than 4 million troops, there are number of mobilized troops + 5 territories in each country. There are region bonuses and country bonuses. Region bonuses are number of territories - 2. There are also country bonuses, which are the number of troops(in millions) mobilized. Countries with over an extra 3/4 million troops are rounded up to the next million. Though they are multiple countries, I plan on making North Africa and the Balkans country bonuses. Most countries have 2 region bonuses and a country bonus, however since Germany and Russia mobilized over 10 million troops, I will give them 3 region bonuses.
I have not drawn Russia yet because I am not sure what to do. How should I divide Russia for bonuses? I was thinking to possibly divide it into areas of White Russian control and Red Russian control during the Russian Revolution. I am not sure whether I should do that, divide it between Russia and minority countries, or just north, south and west.
I also have some more questions. How do you make text visible on the map(with Inkscape)? Should I have a Scandinavia bonus with Norway, Sweden, and Denmark? Should the Balearic Islands and Spanish Morocco be part of the bonus for Spain or North Africa? Should I include Iceland?
If you have suggestions for bonuses and territories please write them. I could also use better names for bonuses, mine are not detailed. Any other suggestions please state them, I can use the help.
