Er, nope.
Specifically hubris came from the ancient greek ύβρις, that is when a man tries to challenge a God, feeling superior to him.
The consequence of the fall is not required but just expectable then.

So me prey all hubris. They be things in front of me pride that fall to ground when attacked. Tangy blood then touch me tongue as dead body twitch and Lions purr and cuss again and again as we fight over enticing entrails.

It's good to see Sundance the Lion on his way back to form too. Problems with digestion are all too common around Christmas, methinks.

Sorry wrong quote oO

Hubris is creating a tournament that aims to identify the best player on warlight and not including the best player this site has ever seen.

Hubris often indicates a loss of contact with reality

Exactly!

2.

(in Greek tragedy) an excess of ambition, pride, etc, ultimately causing the transgressor's ruin

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/hubris?s=t

A good example of hubris is demonstrated by Detective Trollussa, in this very thread. Without the arrogance he would still be as stupid, but it is a direct consequence of the hubris (pretention to intelligence) that he reveals his true lack of understanding. So his ambition ultimately causes his ruin.

However, since he is a expert troll, maybe it was just a piece of meta-irony, and the dramatic irony is at my expense rather than his.

*Bump*

I'm slightly late, but the tournament has ended. The first Strategic Master is........

Featherbucket!

WM 1v1 dominance has another chapter :)

Second place went to......

dunga!

Apex just lost the title; revenge in the potential next round perhaps....

I was thinking of making a small (8 player) RR for the top 8 in this tournament. If all the players agree to take part is will be made up of: [WM] Featherbucket, dunga • Apex, [WM] Mushishi, [WM] dead piggy, Carl Soderburg, Yoshi, [WM] Artham and fatality.

I would also be happy to create a second series if people wanted it (perhaps in a couple of months when I'm less busy).

Top 8, would you be interested?

I would be happy to, but I will wait a while before doing so. Also, I'll need the support from the 'masters'. If I get a couple of requests from some of the definite players I'll go ahead and set it up.
