See everyone? Even Mulva thinks I'm right in that stoppage time is arbitrary.
Of course it is. Just about any decision a referee has to make in football is arbitrary to an extend. That's the way this game has been played for one and a half centuries. I'm not saying that's how it
should be, but if you want time-stoppage, what about video evidence, time-outs and 2x veto rights per team per half against referee decisions? Somewhere along the way, the game will change.
The USA played a great match yesterday. They fought like hell and turned it around and then they were exhausted. Portugal had the advantage of an early goal for an hour, meaning they didn't have to wear themselves down as much. So the team that 'did more for the game' - the one that 'should have won' - had to concede a last-minute equalizer in the end. Happens all the time actually. Great show nonetheless. That's football.
Oh and I just
can't wait for that totally nerve-wrecking 0-0 next monday.
