I saw in the recent changes (which I love!) that there are now "moderators" on the forums, to help Fizzer categorize Notable Posts.

Probably a good idea, but can we have more info on this? Are the moderators' identities secret? If not, who are they? What are there duties/powers/responsibilities? Are they merely selecting Notable Posts, or are they also policing the forums (in terms of language, hatred, etc)?

Ska and I both asked to know the names of the moderators and here is Fizzer's response:

I’m not going to out them. If they want to announce themselves as moderator themselves they can, but I’m going to give them the option of remaining anonymous.

It's probably Gui and Richard.

Richard's just posting that so he can justify being a moderator in secret while throwing the rest of us off the scent.

Or maybe Russell is accusing others of being moderators to throw us off the scent because he's secretly a moderator.

Have no fear Ska... If drafted, I will not run; if nominated, I will not accept; if elected, I will not serve.

RvW is my bet for one of the posts.

How many moderators are there?

I think one thing is clear....the new mods arnt in a clan as i have noticed a few of these threads being made "un-notable" which i think is a shame

I feel that making a clan member a moderator might be unfavorable among much of the community. Many don't like clans at all, and others wouldn't like it because the person's not from "Their" clan. If it was to happen that a clan-member became a moderator, it would probably be imperative that he remain anonymous.

This could also be grounds for accusation of favoritism of one clan or another, just like Fizzer joining a clan would be. I'm not saying I would have any problem with either one, regardless of the clan, but I'm pretty sure many people would.

Fizzer, I agree with Eagleblast completely about how having a clan member as moderator would be unfair. I hope you chose guys like RvW who would do a good job and who you can trust to be unbiased. Good idea though and keep up the good work with Warlight :)

Anonymous mods are fine whilst they are only choosing what is a notable thread and what isn't.

If (when) they get the power to edit or delete posts etc. I would like to know who was doing that.

I think that you misunderstood what I was trying to say. I didn’t mean I wanted to have a clan member as a mod I was merely stating that the mod don’t seem to like the clan threads or at least deem them as notable. Which means that clan members now need to make sure they click right into the general forum to check out posts about clans.

I personally just feel that the forum needs to be split into more sections and is crying out for it

For that, we'd need to be able to edit posts in the first place ;) I can't remember ever having seen a post which had been edited ("censored", "cleaned up") by Fizzer himself, so I'm pretty sure the forum software currently doesn't support it at all. (Of course, he can outright delete messages.)

If / when editing becomes available, I think it would be a good idea to show one of those "This post was last edited by $username on $timestamp, edited $count times in total." lines below each post which has ever been edited. Sure, you can still hide what you wrote before (which is probably exactly what you want for a mod-edit to begin with), but at least you can't hide there was an edit (and you can't hide who did the editing).

i know one of the mods, and i know he deleted posts, during Pink Day. those unquestionably should have been deleted, though.

interesting that this thread isnt 'notable'. conspiracy!

im certain gui isnt a mod. i dont think he has the time, i don't think hes inclined to help other people out, and he seems to think that fizzer is persecuting him or something.

Yes RvW you saw that I said if then went one to tell me it wasn't available now. Which would be why I used 'if' in the first place.

I agree with your the second half of your post - the part that isn't redundant. I also agree with x's points.
