I'm feeling in a talkative mood today, so I thought I'd share another crazy idea.

Have any of you heard of bughouse chess? It's a 2v2 variant where you are paired with another person on another board: one of you plays White, one of you plays Black, and whenever you take one of your opponent's pieces, you hand it to your teammate and he can place it wherever he wants on his board (with a couple of other irrelevant rules). My idea is, why not do bughouse Warlight? Here's how I'm thinking it could work:

option 1) only one board necessary: whenever your armies kill an opponent's armies, they are added to your teammate's income, or
option 2) you have two different 1v1 games going on, but the result is the same as above, whenever someone kills an enemy army it gets added to the other person's income.

I can't really see how this would work in team matches that are larger than 2v2 (it's a bit impossible in the chess world), but this, combined with Local Deployment and a few other interesting settings, would definitely be something new!

That's a nice idea, something that popped into my mind when reading it was what if we made it into a mega general v general series of games? I've played and run a few games where one player has all (or most) of the income and airlifts it to his troops, but can't play directly.

What if there is a starting pool of manpower that a general (or team) has to allocate to each battle of a war, and events ingame will increase and decrease that manpower pool, to open up other fronts against the enemy (with new games) etc.

You could base it off some battle card games things, where you have to use your cards to fight other cards, but when the enemy has no cards left, your cards just hit their health directly.

Perhaps the winner of a game has all their armies (and those gianed via bonuses) returned to the manpower pool, whilst those who lost are wiped out?

Perhaps you can abandon territories with armies in them to return them to the pool?

Erm, this started off being related, any thoughts?

I could see some potential for this, but both of our ideas would probably require a new income structure. Yours, for example, kind of reminds me of that Europe challenge with a few hundred armies locked away from the rest of the map; but the problem with that in multi-player would be that if the opponent can't reach it, then it's a forced draw until someone gets booted! The extra income would therefore have to come from some mechanics that Warlight doesn't currently have... Hopefully the mighty Fizzer will read these ideas and smile down on our enlightened madness.

Well I mean it'd be multiple games, there'd be a moderator who keeps count of the armies in play, and how many each general can use to either reinforce other games (perhaps reinforcement cards?) or start up new ones? It'd mean alot of custom scenario's...

If you end up testing this feel free to invite me. I love bughouse chess.
