so of a server is declared as FFA and there are no teams in the settings, but obviously two of them play together ( they in fact admitted as much after I described the game to them ), is that cheating? Should I report it? Are there logs?

It is not of immense importance, because after getting really p.o.'d I discovered I could win anyway, but still, should this not be declared a team game of some sorts?

Thanks for any replies. Will not post names for now.

Alliances are perfectly acceptable in FFAs. So long as the two players weren't controlled by the same person there is no issue.

If you go through the report options, there is a tickbox which describes what has gotten you angry. If you click it, it will explain that this isn´t against the rules.

I think that alliances are perfectly fine as long as everyone is not ganging up on one person. While that is not technically against the rules, its just a really mean and unethical thing to do. (not alliances specifically, but allv1 alliances)

I think most new players go through this. Alliances are perfectly OK and its probably why lots of 'serious' players stop playing FFA's.

FFA's are meant to be fun - so dont get mad just be strike up an alliance or 2 next time.

There are only two situations regarding alliances that I don't like and won't tolerate. I believe that both are also against the rules, but the one that has already been mentioned certainly is.

1. Playing more than one account in the same FFA.

2. Planning for multiple people to coordinate so that one person can win, before the game begins.

Both break down the purpose of FFA by subverting the 1 player 1 team initial setup. Otherwise, it's a matter of practice and understanding psychology.

You can't really win a lot of FFA games without alliances. The key that makes it fair is that only one person can win, so alliances that only favor one player shouldn't be happening. Exploit the situations that would turn one person against their ally, or simply make better alliances yourself, in order to win.

If you still can't win, you probably need to improve your tactics and ally-picking skills.
