What is this Tour Finals?
  • The AWP World Tour Finals is a yearly invitational Tour event, based on the finished AWP World Tour Race in the previous year.
  • The TOP16 players are invited from that finished Tour Race.
(In the case that a player declines their invitation, the next player on the Tour Race ranking is invited.)
  • The finished Tour Race 2019:

  • It is a seeded single elimination tournament with a best of X (boX) format, controlled manually by the Tour administrators.
  • The templates are chosen by the two players in the matches from a template pool, using pick/ban steps.
  • Maximum two games at a time for the players from this event.
  • Everything will be recorded here in the Tour Finals Magazine.
  • The invited players fight for the AWP World Champion title.
  • See the details in the posts below.

Seeding and formats

The Tour Finals is a seeded single elimination tournament with a best of X (boX) format.
Since these features do not currently exist, the games are created manually by the Tour administrators.
  • The bracket will be defined by the TOP7 seeded players, they will pick their opponents directly, in the following way:
    • First round picking:
      • The 1st seeded player picks her/his first round opponent from the 8 players of TOP9-TOP16.
      • The 2nd seeded player picks her/his first round opponent from the remained 7 players of TOP9-TOP16.
      • The 3rd seeded player picks her/his first round opponent from the remained 6 players of TOP9-TOP16.
      • The 4th seeded player picks her/his first round opponent from the remained 5 players of TOP9-TOP16.
      • The 5th seeded player picks her/his first round opponent from the remained 4 players of TOP9-TOP16.
      • The 6th seeded player picks her/his first round opponent from the remained 3 players of TOP9-TOP16.
      • The 7th seeded player picks her/his first round opponent from the remained 2 players of TOP9-TOP16.
      • The 8th seeded player is paired with the remained player of TOP9-TOP16.
    • QF picking:
      • The 1st seeded player picks her/his QF opponent from the 4 pairs of TOP5-TOP8 players.
      • The 2nd seeded player picks her/his QF opponent from the remained 3 pairs of TOP5-TOP8 players.
      • The 3rd seeded player picks her/his QF opponent from the remained 2 pairs of TOP5-TOP8 players.
      • The 4th seeded player is paired in QF with the remained pair of TOP5-TOP8 players.
    • SF picking:
      • The 1st seeded player picks her/his SF opponent from the 2 brackets of TOP3-TOP4 players.
      • The 2nd seeded player is paired in SF with the remained bracket of TOP3-TOP4 players.
  • The round formats:
    • Round of 16: Best of 3
    • Quarterfinals: Best of 5
    • Semifinals: Best of 7

The process of the matches

Since the features we use (seeding, best of X format) do not currently exist in WZ this event will be full manually controlled.

It means, that the participants will be continuously contacted by the Tour admins (by WZ mails, WZ dummy games plus any preferred method), receiving the instructions and if need helps (answering any questions). So actually the participants only need to care about these Tour admin contact actions and of course the boot time of the started WZ games.

  • All matches will start the pick/ban phase. For this, we will use dummy games.
The game will use 3 day auto boot setting with vacations enabled.
    • First, the higher seeded player has to choose between being Player A or B within the 3 days. The end date will be written by a Tour admin (the players haven't joined yet) and the boot will be manually too.
    • If the higher seeded player chooses Player A, then they have to give their first ban(s) too.
    • After that the players should join (and commit if the other player already joined in the meantime) the game.
    • Next will be the turn of the lower seeded player. A Tour admin will write the boot time for them (if they haven't joined the game yet) or the game will indicate the boot time automatically (if he already joined).
    • After they write their choice in the chat they should commit twice, and then the other player's turn will come.
    • This is until the last step, where Player A will pick the last, deciding template.
After that Player A should vote to end and commit, and later Player B vote to end too.
    • Tour admins will help you with instructions in the game chats.
  • After the first two picks are completed the match will officially begin, and a Tour admin will create the first two games.
  • In the Semifinals and Final, a short template pool expansion step will be before this pick/ban phase, using private messages in the dummy game. See more details in the pick/ban phase section.
  • The fights will use standard WZ games, so after both players join, the role of the Tour admin is finished regarding that game.
The games will use 3 day auto boot with vacations honored.
  • Maximum two games at a time for the players from this event unless both players agree to having more/less at once
  • The results will be recorded here in the Magazine, in the corresponding match section and in the google sheet (bracket) too.
  • A match will be finished if one of the players will gain the necessary number of wins (In a best of n, this is (n+1)/2).
  • If both players are ready for the next round, it will start immediately.

Since you finished last year’s 50 tournaments very quickly (at least faster than last year), I’m starting the 2020 Tour Finals event earlier too. (the Tour Finals 2019 is still running, Rak and Buns is playing for the first title, so they can pause (or one game at a time) their first round games here until that final finishes, if they want)

I changed two things compared to the previous year:
  • You cannot earn Tour Points in this event (I have changed this in the 2019 Tour Finals conditions too)
The regular season (Tour Race) is about the Tour points, this Tour Finals is about the AWP World Champion title.
  • There won't be fixed bracket, it will be defined by the TOP7 players of the Tour Race
(proposed by Hergul, but regardless, I planned exactly that :) )
    • The bracket will be defined by the TOP7 seeded players, they will pick their opponents directly, in the following way:

Unfortunately Kicorse retired, so I have invited the 17th player, Xenophon instead of him.
So the list of the participants:
Timi, Hergul, Rak, Kurdistan, FSG, Suschel, MoD, Schwarz, Guest, Malakkan, Jo Jo, Buns, Wini, Alex, Turkish and Xenophon.

    GL&HF guys! ;)

I have opened a dummy game for the bracket picking process, you can follow the actions here:
