When I joined WarLight, I tought that there would be a few players, who would be impolite (or inpolite? I mean that they aren`t polite :) ) It seems however that everybody (on the Forum) is a polite player. Of course there are some threads in wich things can be said, but if you compare WarLight to most of the other sites you will see that we are one of the politest sites.

i think warlight draws a crowd that skews more to the intelligent side compared to other sites, because of the nature of the game. so that accounts for the more active players being reasonable. (plus, you can't get anywhere in team games being belligerent.)

I think the politeness depends on the topic. Some of the political/religious threads I have seen on the forum get pretty heated, but for things such as asking for advice, etc, there is no real reason to be rude.

yes, religion threads are definitely the worst, although a couple of threads about new clans are pretty nasty too

The religion threads get pretty heated, agreed, but for religion threads (that is, compared to religion threads on other sides), they're actually not all that bad.

I know other sites with a by-and-large polite audience, but WL does indeed seem to be a much better place than "average". So, let's quit all this talking and get back to killing each other('s armies). ;)

Yes I have to agree,

I find that this community of people is incredibly polite compared to other communities I've been in, no matter how heated the discussion becomes, the comments remain civil.

I think it helps that everyone is pretty enlightened about world issues and the community is quite intelligent or educated.

Well, about the religion threads, I admit that I can be a bit trolly on those but never insult anyone and try not be disrespectful (just to their non-existent gods and random rules and moral codes) but as nobody would get offended if I talk shit about communism (or a multinational company such as coca-cola) I really don't think any religion should get a better treatment.

Respect people, not ideas!

@agay some communist, sympathizers,pro communist and communist government will get offended when you talk shit of them so will coca cola employee low and high up employee.

Actually danishprince, if you go on a communist-bashing rant while demonstrating boundless ignorance as to what communism even is, I'll get offended (I think it is something to strive for in the long run, even if it can never work in my lifetime). Hint: anything which McCarthy would've agreed with has an incredibly high chance of qualifying for "ignorance". (If you actually have arguments and a proper understanding I'll probably still disagree, but at least not be offended.)
I also think there's a very fine line between respecting people and respecting ideas; could I possibly attack an idea, completely burning it to the ground, without disrespecting people who strongly believe in that idea...?

My pointy is, if people get offended by discussing ideas (politics, history, religion) It's their problem, not mine.^^ As long as I am not trying to offend them personally or being rude.

The WL forum is quite polite, and I think avoiding politics and religion helps keep it that way.

I have noticed this too. It is refreshing actually.

I came from similar games to this and the tone is always really really harsh and mean spirited. I think the fact that there are team games and 1v1 games on this site is one of the main reasons everybody is so polite. If all of the games were free-for-all's people would probably be a lot meaner since there is a lot of politics and cheating and whatnot that goes on there.

By politics I didn't mean governments I meant that if its 7 player games and no teams you have to be good at manipulating and forming alliances and backstabbing people etc. That creates enemies haha
