So we're going to need 10 maps for it...My plan is to include each part of the world where people that play warlight are living in. So here's my basic ideas for maps:

Maps that will definitely be in it:
Medium Earth-
East Asia & Oceania-
Europe-
Medium USA-

Other regions I'd like to have maps of:
Russia- One map but it appears unbalanced to me
Canada- Unbalanced map and too big
Africa- Map is too big
South America & Carribbean- Map is too big
I was thinking that maybe if there were smaller versions of these maps with around 100 territories we could use them...i might have time to make a couple of them.

Other possible maps:
China: Warring States-
Small Earth-
Huruey's Castle-
Imperium Romanum-

If you have any ideas for the maps or templates please contact me. Also, if anyone would be interested in making smaller versions of those maps please contact me.

You can balance them yourself! And there's another Canada map: http://warlight.net/Map.aspx?ID=495

Ok, I've picked out the maps and I will wait on the settings for right now. The maps are:
For 1v1:
Ancient China
Medium Earth
East Asia & Oceania
Europe
Medium USA
Small Earth
Canada
Russia
Huruey's Castle
Imperium Romanum
For 2v2:
East Asia & Oceania
Imperium Romanum
Medium Earth
For 3v3:
Middle East
Europe
For 4v4:
Africa
South America and The Caribbean

Also, how should I do the Olympic Trials?
My thoughts for 1v1 was one of two options:
Option 1:
8 groups of 30
Divide each group into 3 round robins (10 people in each)
The top 3 from each round robin advance to the finals for the group plus one wildcard
In the group finals, the top 4 will advance to the Olympics.
240 people in trials, 32 advance

Option 2:
16 groups of 20
Top 4 in each group advance
320 people in trials, 64 advance

For the 2v2 and 3v3 and 4v4 I will use dunga's earlier mentioned idea and have judges determine which teams make it and which don't.

If you have a team for any map, please post on this thread. Also, please vote on which option you think we should do for 1v1.

I'd say for US you'd have to do one from each state or something given the number of people playing here.

Maybe do US champ versus world champ or something. Or match a US person against a world person in each first round matchup (you'd need 50 other countries represented then).

Not necessary, in real world Olympics all countries are equal too.

what about qualification tournments for each country? that way it is easier to see who should represent each country

that should be organised by the countries 'coaches'

you could have a member for each nation which organises their nations' competitors

^If you are talking about team sports, sure. Individual, no. The US might have 3-4 people in swimming, track events and the other countries only have 1 each (most none). It isn't based on population of course, but qualifying. Some countries (Germany, Austria) will have 2-3 bobsleds in the Olympics while other countries only qualify 1 sled (or none). Even the teams still have to qualify (like say soccer).

If you want this to be like the Olympics, there would need to be a qualifier of some sort. Otherwise it is some sort of international open of sorts. It wasn't my idea, so I couldn't say.

i think it would be better to have one competitor from each nation to determine which country is the best at warlight.

if you want to find the best player in warlight, then the olympics format is better

Arun, that would not work that well. The idea is that we will have either 320 or 240 people from all over the world compete in the trials so that the top 20% or so of the warlight members make it to the actual Olympics which will be a Double Elimination tournament. Some countries such as the US might have a lot more people than other countries but it will work the best because it will mean better competition for everyone in the double elimination tournament and it will mean more if you win it.

I agree with Jsa. Don't split countries, but let them have more competitors.

Truthfully if your going by home countries you got a 7 country olympics. GB,USA, Canada, Poland, Mexico/Spain (we have some spanish)Poland, and those who claim to be italian. I think you could divide the US in 4 Southeast, Northeast,Southwest, and Northwest.

Anyways put the swastika(卐) guy in his own country but he might be to busy campaigning or fighting for his beloved aryan political party, the northwestern front, or simply fighting on the northwestern front. Im sure his neighbors love him... anyways you could make him represent the aryan strength of losses, and germanies dominance of the world, and have him get shown up by some black guy like germany in the real 1933 olympics... But seriously though try to do that, it would be funny
