I mentioned this idea rather briefly in another thread, here is where I'd like to expand on it. First if this is going to work, I'll need help from 3-4 experienced players, but more important than that, those people would have to help me with video editing/recording. Since my own pc is rather crappy i can barely handle watching hd videos, let alone recording them. What I'd like to do is provide a very specific structure and voiced commentary, while other players would edit videos using custom scenarios/past games i'd pick as examples. Of course we could not do everything at once so we'd do proably one chapter to see how it goes, but ideally if that starts off other people could substitute me and expand upon this.

Now, regarding availability, I was initially thinking if the quality will be good, that could be a member-only feature, or for example intermediate/advanced tutorials would be member-only features. Considering ladders are now open, there are not that many incentives to buy a membership.

In any case it's still in planning phase, here is more/less how I pictured the structure:

Begginer/Intermediate/Advanced

Beginner:
I) Game mechanics:
1) Attack/defence kill rate
2) Luck settings
3) Rounding system
4) Move order/pick order
5) Attack or transfer/Attack-only/Transfer-only modes
II) Cards:
1) Card pieces in 1v1 and team games
2) Reinforcement card
3) Order delay card
4) Order priority card
5) Blockade card
6) Abandon card
7) Gift card
8) Diplomacy card
9) Sanctions card
10) Spy card
11) Reconassaince card
12) I probably forgot other cards

You'd be surprised how often even great players lack in the knowledge of game mechanics so I think that'd be a decent start for beginners course, also it'd be relatively brief.

Intermediate:

Advanced:

I'll be editing more when I gather my thoughts.

I`ve already said that I`m more than willing to help you out, since I think this is a good idea and needed. It could help a lot of people. I do not have any good recording options though :(

EDIT: If needed I can download Hypercam to record, but there are probably better options out there :p

This sounds great. When it begins I will definitely be spreading the word, as well as watching the videos myself.

I'd be interested. Don't have good recording tools but a fast working laptop that can handle that stuff.

Recording tools = recording software only. We don't need any cameras or other stuff. Skype+recording software+editing software is more than enough.

i don't think a whole chapter about the cards is necessary/relevant.You won't have much to say apart from what the card does, wich anyone who can read already knows. I think talking about cards should come up as you go over game mechanics and strategies. For example, when you are going to explain the mechanic of the order list, it may be a good time to talk about op & od cards. I know it took me a while to understand how to properly use these cards because i didn't know how the order list worked.

I disagree. Following the explanation of the game mechanics, each card can be introduced, it's function explained and situations in which it is effective detailed.

The point is I'd like to make a list of chapters that'd allow me to make keep single chapters relatively short and to the point. If you ever watched wargaminglive, you know I have more often than not quite a lot to say about strategy and watching an hour long video might be too hard (not mentioning editing an hour long video).

I'm not nearly as active as I used to be, but my classes are finishing up and I'll have more free time until the fall, so I can lend a hand if you'd like. I have high-quality recording and editing software (1080p recordings via XSplit and Sony Vegas Pro for editing).

I seem to remember dunga starting something like this, was that a thing?

Ya, if I recall he only did it a single time.

Its a good idea, but how many videos do you plan to make? I don't think theres a lot to say on most of the things listed above.

just did some research on youtube and came over this

https://www.youtube.com/user/WarGamingLive/videos

it contains some of the first WGL 1v1 games, the first episode of lolowut's coffee break and a 3 part course by dunga.

the 1v1 games have games like szew vs x and HHH vs. timi

Yeah, that was from back when I was really active and figured I could deal with editing and uploading videos to two YouTube accounts on top of hosting WGL streams, recording other games, and juggling college and work. I quickly found out that I was overambitious, got really behind-schedule on them, and never finished working on future WGL videos... xD
