szewen, i invited you to a 1v1 RR with [x] players. here's my challenge: beat all the current and former [x] players and i'll retire before you do.

Yes, because we all know that the better player ALWAYS wins and that the best players in RR tournaments ALWAYS go undefeated...

you underestimate szewen. if he can win all but 2 or 3 in a 20-player RR with top players, surely he can beat 8 or so [x] players.

yeah, szew would be more likely than not to win that challenge.

There's some decent/good [x] players, and it's not an easy challenge, especially if Mek Blaze is playing as well, but Sze can probably pull it off.

I'm reasonably certain that people don't even want you to retire; as near as I can tell they just want you to be a little more friendly. For instance, even after you did a fair bit of yelling at szeweningen, all his replies remained reasonably polite.

Now, I can't look inside szeweningen's head, so I can't be absolutely certain of his motivations, but his explanation for which games he chose to use as "lecture material" sound plausible. Some of his motivations (such as the live video) you couldn't have known about, but it was you who chose to use a (public) forum like this to have the argument; had you asked him in private he could've told you without this public mud-throwing fight.

Let me summarize:

  • We've never played a game together, but if you held the top spot on the ladder, you must be a very good player.
  • You've made some very nice maps (I especially like "Greater Middle East", "France: villes et capitales" and "Ancient Greece & Maritime Trade").
  • Those two things make you a very valuable WL player.
  • Unfortunately, when you're annoyed with someone you seem to like picking fights; a truly great player isn't just good in the game, he's also a decent sportsman. On that count I think you can still learn one or two things (either from szeweningen or someone else). I'm just hoping you want to learn...

Ah the joys of statistics.

Even if Swe is 4 times better than all those involved (an 80-20 split) he would still only have a 16% chance of winning out (0.8^8)

Even if he has a 90% chance of winning each game the odds of going undefeated are only 43#

Way to build a scenario where you are all but guaranteed to win Gui. Frankly it's exactly what I'd expect from my limited interaction with you.

yes, statistics is joyful.

even if richard sharpe has an 80% chance of reading a thread on any given day, he has a 100% chance of some day writing a comment that might annoy the thread-maker.

richard, do you even play games? lol

I do. I clearly do not have as much time as you do dedicate to this ultimately meaningless pursuit but I guess that is the benefit of being a student and not part of the real world yet. You most certainly give off the image of the typical postgrad student

THE DON: It's been obvious to me for a long time that you are a common bully. I'm glad it's finally coming to light for everyone to see. I hope that Fizzer takes action. I think you have a earned a forced break from Warlight for a while.

Below are your bullying tactics from this thread alone:

when i come to a website for a childish war game played by grown men, i have no desire to pussy-foot. in the workplace men are domesticated enough: 'professionalism' is really nothing more than acting more and more like women! i come to this site to wage war, cuss and argue like a man, and chat with friends.

This is a clear insult to all women and greatly discourages women from participating in the Warlight forums and from playing the game at all.
dick sharp

This was in response to the player named Richard Sharpe.
vapor, you are a young teenager, right? you fit the relationship he's looking for (superior-inferior).

This speaks for itself.
as i remember, ryan, you joined [x] and didn't learn much. maybe the focus on thinking, self-acknowledgment, and reading was too learner-dependent for you. in any case, i have had no pleasure in watching you (since i doubt you have improved at all) and instead feel ashamed (for not having helped you more and watching you use your [x] affiliation to join [wm], for which you are not good enough).

regarding ryan the x slouch and wm imposter

Ryan removed the "x" tag from his name after the above series of insults were directed at him in this thread.

mikkelsen, it was only a few months ago that gui was insulting my physique, or at least how he imagined my physique to be, and saying that he would fight me if he could. and that if he did fight me, he would punch me up real good.

it was a very proud moment for me.

your hyberbole and self-righteous secularism make for good fiction. i enjoy how, in one fell swoop, you defend:

- women's rights to play wl and comment on the forum (if only i were gone, the 99-1 ratio of men to women would change overnight);
- all men named richard or dick from intended and unintended phallic references, despite the reality that dick = richard just as russ = russell;
- all teenagers in classic aristotelian superior-inferior relationships (perfect equality for all!);
- the principal of relativity of time (ryan quit [x] hours before i ever responded to his thread post).
