Hello everyone!

I've made a map!
For this one, I wanted to use only non-contiguous bonuses. I was curious to see how that would work out.
Every bonus consists of several contiguous territories and one territory on the other side of the map.

I think it's interesting, but I have no strategic skill at this game whatsoever, so I hope someone who does can give me some feedback. Will this work? Is this playable? Could it be fun?

Obviously, the AI will be terrible at this map, and you'll need more than 1 starting pick.

I'll be ironing out some last mistakes (and probably missing connections) before it goes public.

For the history buffs among you - I based the territories on the mid-19th century, but some of the trade goods are based on older routes.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Murk,

I tried looking up your map to play a test game on it, but I couldn't find it, tried both from the custom game map selection and clicking your map to see if I could start a game from there.

Could you give me instructions on how to run a test game using your map so I can try it and submit feedback afterwards?

Maps in testing mode can only be used in games made by the map creator (me).
Otherwise, everyone could just make games on unapproved maps.

I can invite you to a test game once I'm done with the final touches. Won't be long.
Thanks!

Would you be open to temporarily publishing it so I can run a few different test games on it?

I know nothing of the map publishing process when I ask this, so if what I ask is too much hassle for you, I will wait for your invitation

I'm happy with your enthusiasm!
Sadly, no, publishing takes a while: the map has to be approved by Fizzer himself (or his deputies, I believe), and the poor guy is quite busy, so that takes a few days at least.
Even more, it probably won't be approved until all connections and center points (etc.) are correct, which is what the testing is for.

I'll open up a test game tonight, and then I'm open to suggestions for other tests you'd want to run!

Fizzer himself does not approve map publications, and it takes a day or two for it to pass, if it does. Same goes for map updates, which do not replace previous versions and are still accessible. Creating an unfinished version of a map for publication would probably not pass, and would take longer to work around.

He used to, right?
Actually, I'm not sure about that.

I've seen it take two weeks for a map to be approved, but usually it is indeed around two days.

It was a exclusive reveal for the Warzone Awards 2018.

I also find that if it takes over a day, set the map back to dev mode and then right back to public and it seems to re-notify them.

I don’t think he says it in the Awards itself (the final product). But he definitely told us during the recording.

P.S. I can test a map too

This will work with additional income-sources;
armies/turn would be perfect,
cities could work as well but might steer away the focus from completing bonuses.
minimal armies or reinforcement-cards could work but makes the game slow first and then fast for some(while others get overrun).

The strategy in the map itself is fine, but clicking the bonuses and trying to find some tiny territory often hidden under the bonus-pop-up makes it less suited for strategic (realtime) play. (beautifull map though)

That's interesting! I've never had this problem. Do you play on mobile or pc?

I'm still trying to make the bonuses easy to spot, yes. I've added small bonus links next to the territories (without numbers), which helped a lot, but I do still want it easier to see.
