Where its at Now:
I have in the main bonuses, but haven't broken them apart into smaller pieces.

Where I would like to go next:

Section Off States into 4/5 territories per state.
Add 1-3 Cities Per State.
Add a special extra feature that will make this map awesome ;)

But, before I invest too much more time, I'd be interested in finding someone to lend some advice about the best way to move forward.

-Should I clean up the borders more/first?
-Should I Add Cities First?
-Should I Divide States into individual pieces first?

Please leave comments here, or invite me to a game to discuss.

Thanks in advance!

1. You named Neveda Utah ;)
2. Yup, cleaning up borders **before** breaking them up is way easier. Every split makes 4 extra nodes, so 4 extra seconds wasted.
3. How exactly do you want to have cities in your map? Just circles that connect to one other territory, maybe a bonus for them?
4. Aha, originality is the hardest part of map making :) My two best rated maps have something original (Whirlpool the connections to the other side and Canada Big the enlarged part)

Well, I think I'm done with the drawing, but do you think the Map Resolution is too large?

There's some tiny territories out there, perhaps I can make them bigger?

nice. add madison and green bay as cities and i'll play it more. lol

adding major international airports (http://www.nationsonline.org/oneworld/major_US_airports.htm) that all connect to each other (in an expanded version of this map) might be cool. the airlift card would become more meaningful like that.

Why is Massachusetts named Mass, when all other states are named without abbreviations?

"Philadelphia" is actually Pennsylvania, unless you were trying to say that the area is centered around Philadelphia, which it really isn't.

Thank you for all the great tips, Didn't expect you guys to get into that much detail on the initial review.

Mainly focusing on what I need to do in Inkscape to make this more playable.

Mass? Well, it was late, and I didn't want to look up how to spell it, or embarass anyone when I spelled it wrong.

Missing Territories, thanks! I'll put those in.

Extra Cities, yeah, I pulled a list of the 50 largest US Cities, but had to leave some off. Who knew there were so many large cities in TX and CA. It would have unbalanced the map if I had that many cities. I was also suprised that Green Bay was nowhere on the list.

Airports... I like it. I think I might tie it into the 3rd secret theme of the map that's gonna knock your minds off.

---

But what I'm concerned about is the overall appearance now. This is an edited SVG of the BIG USA map that Gunz so kindly let me borrow. I left the counties behind for the large cities. I'm thinking about cutting out larger holes for the cities, and maybe shrinking down the whole map so you don't have to zoom as much. In addition to making the small NE states into single territories, and linking them together into one bonus.

Does anyone know what the dimensions should be of a 200 territory map?

What I'm going to attempt to do is Group Everything, Shrink it down to about 66% of the current size. Then Ungroup Everything.

Then, make some of the cities larger.

So, case in point, Looking at Central Colorado. I would like to make Denver Larger, in proportion to the Central Colorado.

What is the best way to do this in InkScape?

Okay, NVM, Figured out the cities.

I just Selected the Outer Object, Expanded the nodes, and then enlarged the inner object to fit.

So, Now I have almost all that I plan to do in the SVG, with the exception of bonus boxes done.

I've even started to add the new special feature.

Thanks for your help so far. If you see anything that needs fixing, please let me know.
