I cannot find a way to update maps if they have minor problems once they are public.
Any help would be appreciated!

You need to duplicate the public version, make corrections, up the version number, and make it public, too.

And won't this mean the ratings will go?

No, it's just a new version of a map, ratings won't go away.

although games already started on the old version of the map will still use the old version of the map...
this process is essential because every game is stored indefinitely.

If I update the map will existing multiday games be deleted?
