School fire walls are easily bypassed.

- I would suggest looking for a proxy on google.
- But if your school is smart enough to block proxy sites then download one at home and bring it to school on a USB-key.

Also depending on how good the system is you can sometimes get around this by using Google to translate the Warlight page. But I dont know if it will work with flash and all... anyway gl

From Wikipedia:

"In computer networks, a proxy server is a server (a computer system or an application) that acts as an intermediary for requests from clients seeking resources from other servers. A client connects to the proxy server, requesting some service, such as a file, connection, web page, or other resource available from a different server. The proxy server evaluates the request as a way to simplify and control their complexity. Today, most proxies are web proxies, facilitating access to content on the World Wide Web."

In short, it is something that masks you, what you are doing, and where you are going from outside sources trying to watch you. (As a note) They aren't foolproof though.

a proxy changes your IP address.

As I'm living in China and varies sites get blocked by the Great Firewall (Facebook, Youtube, etc), I can use a proxy to change my IP address. This way it seems I'm accessing a website from another country, so I do have access to it.

Great Firewall :)

you can also use remote control software/sites.
Leave your home pc on, and login on it from school/work, this works really well, and you leave no trace on the used computer, as everything happens on your home pc

There are various uses for proxies; when you're in China (or highschool), you can use a proxy to hide which websites you're visiting. Note however that you are NOT hiding the fact you use a proxy (the consequences of this depend on whether you're in China or highschool (and whether you get caught)...), only what you use the proxy for.
Also, the "amount" of hiding can be very limited. For instance, using Hide My Ass (which appears to be unable to handle WarLight, probably due to Flash) to visit WarLight.net will show the following line in any log which may or may not be collected:

http://1.hidemyass.com/ip-1/encoded/Oi8vd2FybGlnaHQubmV0Lw%3D%3D

Problem is, that gibberish-looking "Oi8vd2FybGlnaHQubmV0Lw%3D%3D" (or actually "Oi8vd2FybGlnaHQubmV0Lw==" after URL-decoding) screams "base64" to anyone with a little bit of computer science background. Base64 decoding it results in "://warlight.net/". Now, if your school is specifically blocking WL, they might not take kindly to you being a smartass and, since you are only hiding your actions well enough for the real-time blocking, not nearly enough for a human looking if there's anything weird in the log files, you might still get in trouble!
Note, other proxies may hide which websites you visit to a lesser or greater extent; the lesson here is: just because it looks like gibberish to you, does not mean it's gibberish to whoever runs the computers at your school. (Even if they don't know how to decode it, there's nothing stopping them from simply copy-pasting the address into a browser and see where they end up!)

In my childs school, the trick is: On the http bit of the URL, you just add an s (so its https). That school isn't what id call tech mad though.

It also doesn't work at the place where I'm doing my internship, but that's because my computer there is running Linux Fedora and its flash player (GNU Gnash, IIRC) doesn't support the particular version WarLight is running on. Too bad :(. I don't have root permissions to change it, so I just have to suck it up.
