What will be the game count per player?

- One or two at maximum.

Why would a manager need more players than his teams has places (or at least the currency for them)?

- Every Manager has to cover the risk of any liability by himself. There will be no vacations honored and players that leave the League or stop playing, will have to be substituted. So a Reserve pool of players will be a necessity.

Which maps will be played?

- This being primarily focused on the Manager aspect, maps will change from game to game, making it harder for the manager to pick players, or forcing him look for good overall players instead of map specialists. (or many map specialists, that play certain maps for the manager)

What is the game mode, 3on3, 2on2, 1on1 FFA?

- The game mode will never be 1on1, nor will it be FFA. It will always be a team game, allthough the team sizes may vary. Managers should be able to construct a core team (or multiple) that work(s) well together, or substitute players according to animosities.

Will the price of players vary?

As being mentioned before, each game will have MVP award. The MVP and the games won to games played ratio will have an effect on the price of the player. Players can be sold to other managers and back into the player pool. When sold to other managers the price is fully open to the mutual agreement of the involved parties. When sold back into the pool, the players worth is reduced by one currency unit. Players worth may also be modified occasionally (being in the pool for too long for instance) by the allmighty Leagues Mastermind.

Will there be betting ?

- Like unknown I had an idea of betting on the results. But assuming that there will be a lot of organization involved, help would be needed. So unknown if you want to take part in it, organizing a betting system, welcome to the team.
My idea was buying shares of Managers and or players, betting on their development in the League. Managers will only be allowed to take part in gambling and shareholding, after a first season has been played and there will be a next season, preventing them from bankruptcy

Can there be more Managers?

- After a season is played and it has been a success that players, managers and spectators want to see continued, new managers can join, but with a lower Warlight Currency Unit amount than the average team of the previous season. Established Managers should have an advantage being part of it since the first hour.

Never mind then... intrigued but the managers (or those who have voiced interest) scare me and the format just isn't my cup of tea.

I'll put myself out as a potential manager. I probably pay way too much attention to who plays for my own good anyway.

I'd like to hear the official rules, and the nuts and bolts of how it works though.

@ Ace Windu as much as id like to be a manager, i will not start as one, so that my position as organizer remains unbiased.

@Richard To ensure the success of the league and acceptance of spectators and players alike, the majority of the managers will be carefully picked (or elected). Maybe there will be one spot open to randomization.

I thought so.

Keeping with the role, no way would Sharpe take such a promotion and remove himself from the battlefield.

ok, for the suggested betting league, how about:

a limited number of people participate, eg 20 (else it is too much work :/) they start with capital of eg 1000.

bets are made by quoting a price, from 0 to 100.
eg, you think Sharpe's team will win, so you quote 80. this means that you would deposit 80 with the exchange, if you win, you get your 80 back, +20 (to make 100).

who do you bet with? other players. eg, someone who thinks Sharpe is poor officer material, seeing the offered price of 80, would accept that price. he hands 20 to the exchange (100-80), and, if Sharpe loses, he gets his 20 back, +80 (to make 100).
what one side makes, the other loses.

now, the awkward bit. how to run this exchange? with 20 players, it could be done by hand, by some foolish volunteer (eg me :/)
i create a dummy game, invite the 'exchange players', and players can post in the chat, eg:

joebloggs: i back Sharpe @ 80
joebloggs: i lay Eagle @ 53

johndoe: @joebloggs - i lay your Sharpe @ 80 DONE

charliechaplin: @joebloggs -i back your Eagle @53 DONE

at the end of eg each day, i announce that all bet offers are cancelled, and i book-keep all accepted (DONE) bets - ie i record what bets have been made, and i count how much 'cash' players have left to make on new bets. (btw - making more offers than you have cash to honour is bad form, and i impose fines for this).

for this to work, i would want the betting period to be fairly short, eg 3-4 days, or maybe a few 'windows' during the tourney (else it is too much work for me). also, the tourney that we are betting on should be fairly fast (a couple of weeks maybe) else we all forget what we are betting about, etc.

any thoughts?

btw - this method allows you to bet that teams will win, and also to bet that teams will not win.

so, you might not know who the best team is, but you might be sure that Sharpe is good only for running the baggage train, and so you can make money betting he will fail.

i think this makes it reasonably interesting for the betting players.
