So my looking back at my [first map](http://warlight.net/Map.aspx?ID=2983) I am still quite proud of the aesthetics but not of the playability. Too many of the bonuses are far too large making the game too dependent on securing the manageable bonuses (Boston and the Cape).

So I decided it was time for a [redesign](http://WarLight.net/SinglePlayer.aspx?PreviewMap=11711) that would add a lot more bonuses (three times as many in fact) and thus make it more playable and enjoyable. While the bonuses are rather arbitrary, they are still grouped by county (the superbonuses) and their value is tweaked slightly depending on their ease of defense or strategic importance.

Was curious to see if anyone had any other thoughts or recommendations for the revamp of the map.

Would you consider putting the bonus links into their respective bonuses and leaving the super bonuses outside?

Personally, having to search for bonus links makes me much less likely to enjoy playing a map.

I agree with Muppet.
And I see you've added a lot of extra detail in! Good job!

[Adjusted version](http://WarLight.net/SinglePlayer.aspx?PreviewMap=12030)

While I like the clean look that putting the bonus links outside provides, I understand the difficulties involved with doing so. I move them all inside the bonuses except for the islands (unnecessary) and Suffolk (too congested). I also highlighted the black bonuses with red squares to make them easier to see though not sure I like the look of it...

Moros, the extra detail is courtesy of a new svg file as the basis. The previous incarnation was simply traced over a map while this one is a tweaked wikimedia map.

yeah.

Technically the map is on a very high level, it just looks too confusing.
I would recommend coloring the Disticts of the same region in related colors. Enough to seperate them from each other, but close enough to be recognized as being part of the same parental bonus.

Myhand, I thought about that but it gets tough to have enough differentiation to ensure the bonuses are distinguishable. I'll try and play around with it a bit more.

I did try to weaken some of the safer bonuses in the corners or along the edge and up the more strategic ones but it is hard to do with such low numbers. Almost wish you could do decimal points where two bonuses alone give 5 each but combined would give 11 (both are 5.5)

Okay, colors have been tweaked. Going to run a test match or three and then go public.

You could always make a separate bonus worth 1 when you control the 2 "5" bonuses.

Wow, Rich, that looks pretty good, despite undoubtedly being filled with Massholes. However, I find that real-life, small area (ie state, county, city, etc) are not super fun to play, due to there being relatively few defensive choke points.

Vapor, good idea but I just wanted to have it be 5.5 for a few bonuses so that any two combined would give you the extra. Just a slight edge for a slightly more difficult bonus that's not worth 6 but not quite worth 5 if you follow me.

Understandable John... I think the only real chokepoint is by the Cape or maybe out west with some of the large territories. Really no way to institute them either while maintaining political boundaries or realism.

While I would like to make a more strategic map I simply lack the ambition and creativity to develop a map from scratch. I have no problem adapting existing entities into WL maps but to create an original is far too daunting.
