When I was looking through maps, it came to my attention that I only saw one Caribbean map (or at least when I searched the maps for the word "Caribbean"), and it was mostly south America, and some of the Caribbean, not in to too much detail. So, I have decided to make a new map for the Caribbean (which is unfinished), with some other places in the region included. I have not gotten to the Islands yet, because I was a bit unsure about them. I do not really want to make each island one territory, but being that most in the Lesser Antilles are small in size, I may have to do so. So I was wondering: should I make the Islands in the Lesser Antilles bigger so I can divide them into 2 or 3 pieces, or should I just not mess with it?

Here is the link, feel free to add in any comments or questions on the map: http://warlight.net/SinglePlayer?PreviewMap=30398

I am sure you notice that I have not put in the bonuses or the territory IDs for most parts of the map. I plan on adding that soon, but I was planning on drawing the territories first, then labeling them later. If you want to know the design, each country will have a similar layout to Florida: a basic drawing of the flag (I am not an expert in drawing out flags on inkscape, I will try to do my best), then the country's name below it (I am well aware Florida is not a country), and the Bonuses below that.

Imo, keep the islands to scale and make them one territory each. It'll look disproportionate if you start enlarging them so you can make more territories.

Also, with the way the island chain works games would bottleneck through choke points. To counter that maybe include some "ship" territories?

The stars as capitals are a nice touch, haven't noticed that on other maps. Are they going to be territories as well or will you change them to circles like with Miami?

Yes, the capitals will be territories. I thought it would make sense and have always been sort of surprised no maps have the star to indicate capitals, considering that is how most maps in real life demonstrate capitals.
For connections, I was thinking about drawing a ship of sorts for short-distance connections, but I wasn't sure about if I should make it look like a battleship, or be more, I guess, festive for the region and draw like a cruise ship or something.

To avoid the bottleneck effect in the Antilles, I didn't really want to use the idea where a territory(representing the sea) is connected to every territory, because it kind of feels like an unfair cheat to me. So instead, I will probably just make a bunch of long-distance connections, like say make Haiti Connected to the virgin Islands, or Trinidad and Tobago to Jamaica, maybe Florida to Dominican republic. Something like that so you are not just advancing slowly island-by-island.

But never mind, it seems we're doing the map in two different ways so it won't matter that it's of the same region.

What about the Roman word
'Atlanticum'
you don't see the word Atlantic in it? It surely IS the old spelling
it's spoken out as <At land I c*****m> and your version is spoken out as <At land ... d****k>

I am copying it from an original 1732 map so I use whatever spelling is on that map.

Moros, I think your map is a bit different from mine. Ironically, I went ahead to post mine because I was a little bit afraid I would find out someone already was making one while I was in the middle of it. Your map is a bit different from mine, because, if I am correct, it is only the coastal parts inhabited by Europeans, and some other regions. Plus your map is in a different time period, and will be much more detailed than mine. But I am curious to how you were able to make the Islands of the lesser Antilles fit at least 20pixels, because I had to merge mine with circles so they could fit, and they ended up losing their "character", I guess you could say.

@Moros

At first I was wondering why Florida and Mexico look so disproportionate but then I remembered that humans didn't have the technology to produce accurate maps. Also how did you find a map so old and accurate?

Beautiful Map, Arc :) I was hoping somebody would make something like this (and now I will get two, wonderful!)

I'd say increase the sizes of the islands so you can fir a few territories in, perhaps with some snazzy effect like Moros used on his Canada map? (http://warlight.net/Map?ID=2526) You do have alot of space up there in the ocean to fit it in afterall.

Edit: Yours looks great too Moros, and different enough for you not to give up!
