great we can rate maps and write reviews but am quite annoyed the only way to access ratings is to finish a game on it or find a finished one which takes long so i just wish we could rate it on the map page or when we are playing a game.
maps i still want to rate
imperum romanum
double earth
quad earth
and many more

|> The ability to rate a map is only available to players who have actually played a game to completion on the map. This helps prevent drive-by ratings, where someone looks at a map for a couple seconds and makes up their mind without even trying it. By not allowing drive-by ratings, the hope is that the map’s average rating will be more influenced by the people who like that type of map.

While technically possible, it would take extra work to automatically determine if people ever played a game on (the most current version of!) a map and then allow them to rate. Besides, the need for such a function rapidly decreases over time (assuming people rate maps they still wanted to rate after their next game on it).

I like the idea of being able to rate any map you're currently playing in as a possibility.

Another way the system could work is when you go to the map's profile page or whatever where you can add it to your favorite's list, you could be able to vote for it on that page (perhaps as the only place you could vote) but only after you've completed 3(+/-) multi-player games on it. This would get rid of the hassle of trying to find games that you've previously played on the map while also decreasing the possibility of people troll-down-voting it.

just go to your already won games. Then you can rate whatever you want as long as you have played a game on it at one point

FYI... after a bit of munging with URL it seems you can rate every map, the URL is RateMap.aspx?ID=<map id, the one taken from http://warlight.net/Maps.aspx and NOT from the map preview, they don't match>

If you really want to get around it, you can just create a single-player game on the map and surrender right away. But it's best if you only use this trick when you've really played the map before, and just don't want to go through the hassle of finding one of your finished games.

Or write quick & dirty JavaScript "hack" to add the "Rate this map" link to map page (it takes max. 6 lines assuming you're using jQuery).
