@ Domenico (though late)
It is indeed from scheveningen variation if sicilian, which took its name from Scheveningen were an annual chess tournament was held (not sure if it is still organised).

gnullbegg, you are funny. I never said I knew anything about chess. Chinese chess and Go are superior games anyway.

Nice to see Jimi is having fun. I find this quite amusing, too!
So what does Jimi know about Chinese Chess & Go?
How can Jimi say those games are "superior" to chess when we just seem to have established that Jimi doesn't know shit about chess?

Jimi knows something about chess.
But first, are you experienced?
Have you ever been experienced?
Well, I have

I suppose Jimi is Gui's real-time account.
Funny to see how foreign people fail to pronounce the /sx/ sound... I don't really understand why, though, since Polish has both the /s/ and /x/.
What makes putting them together so hard that even some Dutch people prefer /sk/ and /ʃ/?

Let me tell you, man, Jimi knows all about the /sex/ sound. But Jimi don't make the /sex/ sound with his mouth. Girls do that.

Did the Jimi experience a lack of coherence right there?
Let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late.
There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief.
Wait that one's from Bob. Oh, the irony...

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin'.
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'.

Ah, but much more importantly, *why* was it named after Scheveningen, when most openings are named after the player who first used them? :)

Because it became popular during a tournament in Scheveningen, says Wikipedia.

Aww Domenico, you're Dutch, you should know this story...!
It was a Dutch grandmaster (well, pretty much *the* Dutch grandmaster, Euwe) who named many of the openings. Most of them were named after the player who first used them; one of the exceptions being the Scheveningen Opening, which "should've been called" the *Euwe Opening*. One theory states this is a case of false modesty on Euwe's part. Another theory states "Euwe Opening" is very difficult to pronounce for foreigners..., but "Scheveningen Opening" is pretty much impossible! \*evil grin\*
