I am using the AdBlock Chrome extension, and I have noticed that blocking ads greatly decreases points. My thousands are going into the hundreds. In one game I got only 500, when I deserved 10,000. This is nonsense.

I get the ad stuff, it's so people go for memberships, but decreasing points! I see the same ads a thousand times, and I already use these websites. I never agreed to losing points for blocking ads. It's in my rights to block stuff I don't want to see. There is nothing wrong with it.

I used to be a great fan of Warlight, but it has really lost my respect. I see it as a scam website that is desperate for money and has really sunk so low. Good day.

ads are not so people go for membership, but so people who don't go for membership will still give fizzer money. it's in fizzer's rights to have ads on his own site for those who didn't pay him anyway. there is nothing wrong with it.
by the way warlight is not desperate for money. its server costs a lot of money every month. a bit more than half a year ago there weren't ads and fizzer kept this site alive using his pocket.

To be honest, i dont think fizzer holds the game up for himself.. He does it for us. And to be able to hold it up FOR US, he needs money. And to get those money, he need ads.

It's also because unblocked ads are part of what funds this. Get off your entitlement and realize that by blocking ads, you also completely cease to be a customer. One person runs this site and - I suspect - it probably loses a lot of money. If you won't even support warlight in the most minor way by clicking "x" every now and again, you aren't entitled to shit.

It is your right to block stuff you don't want to see, but that doesn't mean someone else can't impose consequences related to their product for you not seeing it. Get off your high horse.

I get it, money is needed to run the website. But seriously, it's too annoying. They come right in the middle of the screen and halt your play by 5 seconds. I can't even enjoy a game properly, why? Because I don't pay? I don't even have stinky dollar with me! I have a problem with ads, they are just put in wrongly. Whether I look at the ads or not, the amount Warlight gets from me is the same. At least do the ads professionally, when starting a game or in a sidebar, but putting on your face, and when you close them, taking away points?

I really don't think you do "get it". Or rather, you're so selfish that you simply don't care. Honestly, I have 0 sympathy. It's super small and trivial to click the "x" and if you're that easily annoyed then you should accept the totally minimal consequences of your actions.

Also, you're completely wrong. When you block ads, warlight gets less money. Ad revenue is based on views and clicks. You are complaining that this free to play game run by one guy and mostly self-funded is inconveniencing you in some minor way as it attempts to stay afloat.

But here's the good bit: if you leave because of this, warlight actually does lose nothing, because you're already blocking ads.

Well Warlight should have ads that work, not annoy. And it they annoy me more than they make me pay money. If you can't raise the money, don't blame the investors. You were the one who failed to convince them. If you can't make sales, don't blame the sales people. I can go to the many other Risk based websites to play that don't bother me. I play for fun and enjoyment, not to have ads in my face. Ads are meant as nice, good looking advertisements. The constant extra screens ruins my gameplay by interrupting my play and messing my head. I came to Warlight to have fun playing, now just because I want to have better fun, doesn't mean my playing capacity should be decreased. Its not my fault the ads make me turn them off.

In fact, his departure would SAVE Warlight money since it would have a slight load reduction on its servers! Playing with adblock on actually costs Warlight money so reduced points are definitely merited. After all, when is it ever wrong to punish people for being selfish?

And as always, the simple solution is to get that little M next to your name!

i play with ad block (mainly because it is glitched and i can not white list WL) and i is annoying but fizzer has spent literally months of his life (and i mean just clocking when he is actually working on WL) and spent probaly tens of thousands of dollars on this site. he could just say screw it and let the site drop... it would be up for maximum a month before it got shut down. yes it is annoying that i am only level 18 but it is the price i and every one else on WL using ad block should pay. i fully support fizzer in doing this. if it was not for youtube i would probably disable ad-block. (or if any one could point me to a way to white list WL not with the ad block symbol on my screen as that is not there that would be appreciated)

Just so you know, if you stopped blocking ads you wouldn't have that popup in the centre of the screen, only a small advertisement in the bottom of the screen. The ad doesn't even block any part of the map most of the time.

Just whitelist warlight on adblock and you'll be fine, actual ads dont get in the way at all.

As others have said, Warlight is made and maintained by a single person. It isn't some sketchy company that has made a shoddy app, shoved it on the market and abusing the free tag to get ad revenue.

Fizzer once mentioned that when WarLight started, it was run on one old, clunky server (presumably his own) and now it requires six high-end ones rented through Amazon. Now, the little I do now about this kind of thing tells me that he's paying roughly $1000 a month, give or take a few hundred. Additionally he invested 70(?) hours doing the coding for the clan system alone, not including minor updates for bugs, expanding the servers because of more accounts, major updates, new seasonal ladders (I assume it requires some extra attention at the beginning of every season). So aside from his -$1000 a month, he's not being compensated for his hours of work.

So yeah, he probably has a decent job (any programming company that sees this game on his resume will be impressed), but hobby or not, he's putting a lot into this site. Aside from the chump change he makes off our once-in-a-lifetime investment for a $30 membership or $15 clan (which probably doesn't pull in a $1000 a month, not to mention again, the hours), his only option is advertisement OR pay-to-win.

I think most of us are grateful that he went with the first option. And like Sirius said, once you get to level 52, you can ad-block the crap out of this site and enjoy almost everything this site has to offer. I mean, if you can't support a guy who made a game that you spend hours a week playing, then you let the terrorists win! :P

I actually use a browser (Chrome) only for WarLight without ad-block and another one (IE) with ad-block for everything else.
