You're the one who leads a clan on warlight, call me what you want but take a good look at yourself first.

How is this a way to get easy wins?
Its just a different type of play. I have always played fast paced strategy games and I value quick thinking over long drawn out games of perfect moves.

I always give at least 1 warning, usually 2, before booting someone for not taking their turn.

the thing is that in 1 minute turn games you just don't get enough time to do anything as you will always need more than 1 minute if you are playing and thinking.. (like chess)

and unless you spam refresh, it can take a considerable amount of that one minute just to get the game to load

... A minute is PLENTY of time. The only time it becomes a real issue is when your at turn 10+ and your both in each other's bonuses. And thats when it becomes fun.

At most you'll lose 10 seconds if you get unlucky with the refresh, but if that becomes an issue you can just wait until 2 seconds left or until the other player has already played to confirm your moves.

Come on, give him a break!
Why don't you just give him the benefit of the doubt here and assume he does this for fun and not for "easy wins" (he's not even showing his stats)? One minute boot goes both ways, after all. He's got himself a 10% boot rate so he's probably been on the receiving end a few times, too. He also names those games in a pretty transparent manner. So why the hating?

Lykus, believe me that if you are talking about strategic 1vs1 it takes at least 3-4 minutes to pick good picks (of course what picks are acceptable as good differs among players) and in 1vs1 it is crucial to check history for wastelands, used order delay cards etc. I'd really recommend for you to try 5 minutes (my average move rate in 1vs1 real time is not much less than 2 minutes).

In speed games, the time you spend on your turn is dictated by the boot timer, not the other way around. Haven't you heard of speed chess? Some people play entire *games* [in one minute](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bzrap8Vtyq8).

The idea that it's impossible to make picks in less than a minute is silly - you can click four random territories and then commit in just a few seconds. Now you have 57 more seconds to spend thinking about better picks.

This style of play is not for everyone. If you guys can't handle one minute turns, don't join them. However, you shouldn't jump all over Lykus just because he likes speed games.

Fizzer, not only I heard of speed chess, I used to play both Blitz and speed chess, but every chess player will tell you there is little to chess when it comes to 1 minute games. He asked in the topic are there any good players willing to join his 1 minute games, and if by good player he means one that plays good, I haven't met any good player that could pick effectively in every situation below one minute. Although most of my turns in real time are below 1 minute, I don't know anyone who could play good all the way taking below one minute every turn. That is also why there are practically no tournaments in 1 minute chess, in speed chess there is very little to strategy, first 15-25 moves are dictated by opening knowledge and opening know-how, the rest is dictated by sharp eye in tactics. If he asks to play with good players than I would advise him to up the boot timer to at least 3-5 minutes, that's all.

Szeweningen is of course absolutely right about the possible quality of play in a "speed game". Therefore, asking for "good" players really didn't make too much sense. Lykus, if you want to become a better player at the strategic 1v1 settings, fast-pace is not the way to go. Even if you want a decent challenge, go for the "standard" 5min or, better yet, multi-day. Slower pace benefits the game in so many ways. In your one-minute-boot games, things will never go beyond the "just avoid obvious mistakes" level. Playing too much of these will probably even make you a *worse* player!

not everyone wants to become a "better player". some people just want to have this thing called fun, as you humans would say. by 'good' he probably meant decent-above average level at least, rather than hardcore, strategy guide-making people.

I like the idea but my internet connection sucks. I may get booted before I can see the map.

Btw, seems many people here think this game is a way to grow their penises lol. It's just a game, why so serious ???

To *most* people, having no challenge whatsoever is no fun. Also, seing the same type of moves being made by you and your opponents over and over will seem repetitive, or boring, to a lot of people very quickly. Boring isn't fun. So sooner or later you're either going to quit out of boredom, or you will want to play against people who play less boring, in other words: better. This means you will likely loose more often. Again, to *most* people, loosing is no fun (or rather, winning is *more* fun). In order to loose less often, you will want to play better yourself.

I assumed that Lykus asking for 'good' players to play with had at least *something* to do with the above. I then agreed with szeweningen who basically said: "in speed games you won't see anything really 'good', you will see 'solid', at best". Now, 'solid' sounds a lot like 'boring' to me. So where exactly does this peen thing come into play (hurr, pun!) here?
