Large World :: http://warlight.net/SinglePlayer.aspx?PreviewMap=8266

Large World is (hopefully) reaching its finish after a long time in development. If you want to be added to a multi-day game, say so in this thread. Respond with things you think should be changed, etc. before the map is released. Thanks guys; we've come a long way.

Wow what a nice map! I would like to try it :)

And I think the Ukraine-Hungary link is missing.

I definitely want. I've send you a feedback, but my browser crashed right after that - have you received it? Or should i write once again?

Anyway, here it it:
- There are some intercontinental connections that IMHO should be made (Morocco and Spain, Hawaii and sth from eastern Asia)
- There are some lines that are showing connections that should be made. Especially between Alaska and Far Eastern District, and also between Antarctic Ocean's Islands and the mainland.
- Names. In some places they are just bad. Like "Indian Pennisular Zone" instead of just "Dekan", and "Indian Northeast Zone" instead of Bengal.
- Moscow is not in the place it should be. You drew it as it was futher north than Sankt Petersburg is.
- Missing connection - Israel<->Syria.
- You should add Timor Island, maybe also Flores and Bali, but Timor for sure, since you added Maluku and Timor is way bigger. Also the name should be "Halmahera" instead of "Maluku" - cause you drew only that island, not whole archipelago. You may also add other big islands of Maluku, mostly Seram.

And a question rather than advice: why did you divided areas that are meaningless, have none or little population, into so many territories, while leaving powerful and populous countries in one piece? Just to have more territories?

Sorry for the third post but I've found 2 more missing connections:
- in Greenland (the names are to hard to write :P)
- Saudi Arabia and Rub al' Khali

-I'll rethink some of the connections possibly.
- Alright
- Searched google for Dekan and found nothing relating to Indian, just a german vocabulary word. If you can find me a creditable place that says it then I'll rename it.
- I'll try to redraw it...though doing it will be a real pain.
- Fixed, thanks.
- I'll try to get around to it if I feel it needs it.

Answer: I'm guessing you're mainly talking about Nunavut and Greenland compared to like China, Russia, and the US. Sure, more territories are a part of it, but the original basis for this map was a political map. Russia, China, Canada, and the US literally used to all be one territory. I think I'll keep the division of the less populous countries, but maybe divide the larger countries more. Just remember that size doesn't always correlate with population. Greenland is huge and is the least densely populated place in the world.

Small mistake in name :)

Honestly, I thought that the least densely populated areas are those with zero population ;) You misunderstood me, my point was: why areas that have little or no population, little or no political or strategic value are separated into so many territories while countries like France, Germany, that are both populous and valuable are 1 territory. Is this only because you wanted to have more territories, or there is other reason? If it is, i just wanted to hear it :)

Suggestions for change of name:

East Europe -> South-East Europe
The bonus has little to do with the Eastern part of Europe (you should add the current "Central Europe" bonus to it for that name to make sense), and almost nothing with the Cold-war era "Eastern Europe" (half of it is former Yugoslavia and Greece).
BTW, "Balkan" would also be a poor name; Hungary and Romania are not usually considered part of the Balkan.

Central Europe -> North-East Europe
See above; half of "Central Europe" is further to the East then most of "Eastern Europe".

Mediterranean Inlet -> Croatia
All other parts of Europe are named after the country, why not this one? (Also, what's a "Mediterranean Inlet" anyway? The body of water between Croatia and Italy is named the "Adriatic Sea".)

---

Shouldn't Kaliningrad be part of the "West Russia" bonus? And Alaska should belong to the "United States of America" bonus.

I don't know if I want to continue this name war on Eurobonuses...I got emails and suggestions on the thread to what it is currently named. To me it's just sort of wasting time.

If I named it Croatia then I'd be excluding Bosnia and Hercegovina. And no way in hell I'm naming it Croabosherce or something. :P I'll think about what to rename it though.

It's generally known to not have two territories that are disconnected in a bonus together unless in under special circumstances. So I don't believe I'll change that.

Huuuuuge update. Reached 395 territories and 39 bonuses.

Changelog:
+Bonuses:
*7 Federal Districts of Russia
*Eastern African Coast
*Palmer Land
*Southern South America
*Northern South America
*Islands of the East
*Alaska

+Provisions:
*Fixed border spacings in Canada, Russia, and Africa. (There should be a slight space between all territories. Will fix China and India in next update.
*About 75 new territories. :)

Still looking for suggestions; thanks so far guys.

Some of your bonus links are weirdly placed, for ex. Volga or Central Federal District. Move them to where their territories are (it's perfectly fine for a bonus link to overlap territories). Actually, many of your bonus links could be moved from the coast line to somewhere closer to the centres of bonuses, but that's your call.

But I like how it looks, overall.

for small to medium-sized countries, this map is great. if you are an islander who has long envied your continental friends, this map is for you. but for larger countries, beware, papa john's pizza cutter shows no mercy!

levels of importance:

states/provinces/regions < larger countries < smaller countries < islands

Issander, you are aware that a number of your territories won't be able to fit a single-digit army let alone double-digit ones. I saw 3-4 such territories at first glance without even investigating the map for more than a couple of seconds (Belize, Haiti, East Caribbean islands)

I don't recall the specifics of the map-making requirements but I know that every territory has to handle at least a single-digit army (in reality it should be double-digit) without the number extending beyond the borders.

I've been thinking about the ways my cousins and I modified RISK as children, and a thought occurs. As a map-maker, you decide where the "center" of a territory is correct? if so, couldn't you put the "center" in a box outside of the territory with a line drawn to the territory itself? That would solve some spacial issues like this and other maps have. It's just a thought, if this is incorrect please let me know, as I'm not a mapmaker myself.

The specifics are on [this wiki page](http://wiki.warlight.net/index.php/Map_requirements#Tiny_Territories). In short: minimum requirement is every territory should be able to fit a double-digit army number.

Why aren't there any wrap-around connections?
Marshall Islands / Samoa / French Polynesia should all be connected to Hawaii. Same with Kamchatka - Alaska.

And please replace those fugly thick yellow connections with thinner, white lines, they are most irritating, because yellow is reserved for highlighting connected territories.

My thoughts on the map...
-It's a good map, but some of the territories are way too small.
-Some of the territory names in India are rather... odd.
Indian Northeastern Plain Zone->West Bengal
Bengal-> Assam or Northeast India
Indian North Hills Zone->Kashmir and Punjab
Indian Central Zone-> There's no official name, but you can just call it Central India so it feels more natural.
-Why place Indian Southern Hills Zone where it is? It's not logical...
