As long as ratings are involved alt accounts will always be an issue, even if no reward is given for the highest rank.
i would like to have to possibility to change and play with my alt,i won't be able to play 1day6 games always in time ,after enough boots i would prefer to play the md games with the alt...But the rt games will be always possible to play for me....
Without any judgement regarding pabse, his statement illustrates the nature of peoples desire to be ranked at the place they think they should be. Rankings automatically involve competition and competition will drive people to shortcuts to success.
I agree that people should only vote from 1 account but in my opinion the votes already get manipulated a lot. The system allowing people to change their votes makes manipulation very easy. I have unlocked templates solely because someone gave it 3 votes to unlock it and 1 day later the template dropped to 30 because he removed his votes.
In my opinion votes should be locked when used on a template so people will actually bother to think on where to use them.
solutions could be:
1: release votes when the template either gets removed or drop out top40 templates (= locked if i remember fizzers post correctly)
2: allow people to remove votes from templates if they dont like it anymore but dont allow them to use them again
3: only allow votes to be reused on templates submitted later then previously voted on (might be hard to program though)
4: not unlock a template when it suddenly appears higher on the voted list until you have won enough games to actually unlock a new template.
Fizzers idea was that the template list would stabilize once more people unlock votes but right now its extremely easy to manipulate the template list if people want to. Find 4 people with all 3 votes together and you will get a new template voted 8th spot every day. Solution 4 would be ideal to prevent this problem. Now people who unlocked ranked 15 can easily have 30 templates by voting strategically every day instead of voting on what they think are the most enjoyable templates to play on
