Because you need 15 non-expired games to get ranked, and they expire as fast as after 3 months. The list you were looking at consists of every single player that has ever joined the ladder. Many of those players no longer play warlight, not to mention being active on the ladder..
Knowing that every game ever played on WL is still saved (which I think is pretty cool), there should be a way to filter out, if not completely delete, inactive accounts...say after a year of inactivity? Cleaning out the ladders in a similar fashion would be a good idea, too. It might improve WL's overall performance as well.
I say no to deleting accounts after inactivity! Maybe one day i'll return to my grandgrandfathered acc.. :P if only i rememberred the e-mail/pass combo I used :/
I don't think you could remove a ladder team (or individual) from the database. I am sure your profile accesses that database to show your highest rank in your public profile (assuming you are showing it). I am sure Fizzer needs to keep every team from the beginning of time in there.
BUT, I would think he could not show them on the ladder page if a game hasn't been played in a certain amount of time (maybe 6 months). I see no reason to list inactive teams on the ladder pages.
I would also like to see non ranked teams sorted by rating (and rating listed). That way even if you are in provisional period, you can still see who is doing well rating wise. There seems to be no order to the non-ranked people at all.
Unranked teams are sorted by team ID, which is given based on ladder joining date. This is why Fizzer (Ladder ID 123), NoZone (124) and Perrin (125) are the first three unranked, while new people go to the last page.
EDIT: Ladder ID 122 gives an error so I'm assuming Fizzer was the first.
