New guy on the ladders. Any SERIOUS tips would be appreciated, specifically with initial picks. I'm not even ranked, yet somehow from my first two games, I can tell I need help. Glad to be here, this could be fun :)

1st game: terrible picks, terrible play
2nd game: no really good picks, still impossible to lose since your opponent made far worse picks

summary: bad luck in the gene lottery

I'm no expert but in the first picks the picks were well... bad. Taking eastern us would take you minimum three turns. Also, if you wanted a fast 2 turn 3 bonus why not go for scandinavia? it was surrounded by wastelands and Europe that no-one usually picks. Your third pick in Middle east was pointless. I don't want to sound mean but next time think about bonuses that would be safe (not in the middle of the map, surrounded by wastelands etc.) that would be fast (you can go for a combo on a 4 bonus if that's possible or just pick a fast two turn 3 bonus. Also, when you pick you might want to think about how your opponent will pick and go for something that will slow his expansion while you, yourself have time to expand.

If you stop annoying people, they may be willing to help you more :) Just an idea.
