oh by the way, why is no one complaining about the Mongols Clan? The Mongols brutally murdered and raped a lot of innocent people, but no one is concerned about a clan roleplaying as the Mongols? (no offense meant to your clan, just an example) See, this complaint can be made about every historically based roleplay clan.

It happened about 7-8 hundred years ago and no one who suffered under them are known to be alive today, as opposed to the Holocaust which happened only ~70 years ago and is still relatively fresh in our collective memory (society's) and the impact of their actions are still very present.

Get some perspective and stop asking stupid questions :P

You wanna compare the Mongol conquests to the parents that were raised by veterans of WWII and lived through the Holocaust or fled from the Nazi/Russian/Japanese/Chinese military? Or are just being intentionally thick right now? The emotional impact is much more immediate, so yeah, there's a huge difference.

Yes, the effects of the Holocaust are more recent. but the point is that the mongols, in their bio, say "#Slaughter,Rape,andPillagethePosers",

It's a game. They can call themselves whatever they want. They mean no disrespect to anyone. They are just here to have fun and role-play. If you have a problem with it, then stay away from Warlight. This is what Warlight is about and if you don't like it, then that's too bad.

Jeez, I didn`t know it was such a big deal for germans. I, as a dutchman, think the second world war is very interesting. The use of the media, and the first time the world was at war in total. I know some germans, and all of them so far have told me that they think the war is very interesting and they have no problems with nazi`s or Hitler or anything (in a way of talking about them or even make jokes about it, not in a way of worshipping them :p)

The argument that they did horrible things is not a good one imo, cause in most wars and in most empires the enemies had a hard time. But history is written by those who are victorious, so from empires like the roman empire you hear a lot less. We only know so much about the holocaust because of the documents and the fact that we can examine things from the second world war. Media played a big role in it. The idea of an ideal race isn`t new and will probably always stay in the minds of some tirans.

Because the war was one of the more recent ones it is logical that people are less happy to hear about it than they are when talking about empires of over 1000 years old. But if you are born in the years `70 or later (especially if you are younger than 30 now) you should leave it behind. It has happened, we can`t change anything about it and the people that are alive now don`t have anything to do with it. I think everybody should be able to talk about it freely if they want. If these guys want to name their clan after things from nazi-germany thats fine by me, it is the same as you name yourself Napoleon or Julius Caesar. As long as they are not accually neo-nazi`s nor forcing other people to be part of their "third reich role-playing" it is ok for me.

I've had time to do some thinking about this and came to this conclusion.

Masterpierround - In a way you're right. The Mongols were largely detested for a large part of history because of their conquests, but are viewed more favorably today because Genghis was a brilliant strategist who used his military to created the largest land empire in recorded history and was followed by several capable generals who managed to maintain the empire for several centuries.

My animosity towards the T4R is grounded in the fact that a couple of ignorant players who have no concept of WWII except for what they read in books (reading a book doesn't make you an expert), are trying to play psydo-Nazi because they're cool now.

Never mind that under Hitler's rule my great grandfather sat 8 years in Siberia, my great grandmother was persecuted for her faith and my grandfather lived through the battle of Berlin as an 8 year old and still has nightmares. But I shouldn't be offended, because this is just a game.

That's just my family, there are millions who have suffered a worse fate. You think because I didn't live through the war that I didn't suffer or feel the impact? America has never fought a major war on their soil, I don't wanna hear that shit from those ignorant children.

I know it is horrible what happened to your grandparents and I understand you don`t like it. What I was trying to say is that it wasn`t a special thing to happen in war. Just because it is fresh and still in peoples memories shouldn`t mean that they can`t talk about it (or in this case role-play about it). I did not say that anything that happened wasn`t horrible, nor that you can`t be offended about it. I just tried to say that there isn`t a real good reason to say they can`t do what they are doing now.

hmm empathy, good taste, respect... three of a thousand reasons to go illogical, and decide not to have fun playing that role..
