Anything confusing or complicated and of course it has to be strategic 1v1.

Its important to keep expanding if youve not finished your starting bonuses isnt it?

Why do I play so awful against TWM? I really want to beat him at least one time. :<

I liked this one:

I think Azazel has it lost in the end as zibik's first order the turn before kills both east china and sea effectively and zibik's income is safer.
Until then it is a very interesting ride, with a lot of stuff going on right from the picking stage - it should be complicated enough to fit your requirements.

did i lose this on picks? trying to counter an obvious first turn bonus instead of going for it myself?

Pushover:

Try guessing where TWM will pick and then counterpicking it. He is fairly predictable in going for a double pick on a 4income 5 territory bonus and then completing it first. When counterpicking its very important to pick some safe bonuses, and once the trap is sprung play very aggressively. Good luck!

Verzehrer:

You chose a game that was not your own, cool.

[Turn 0-6]They both pick for safety, and zib gets it. They both probably know where 2 of the others picks are from turn 1. Both get terrible luck with 3v2s which pretty much cancels out and they face off while taking a 4th bonus each.

[Turn 7-9]Its looking like it could be a long game, who does that benefit? Azazel has nice expansion options (caucasus and greenland) but theyre both a touch exposed. Zibiks bonuses are not linked so he has safety in that he can let one group be broken and still have safe income. Once russia's broken he cant even use a blockade to slow zibiks stack down and everything will fall like dominos. Zib also has decent expansion in australia so IMHO he stands a bit better and should not have tried to go to hawaii and japan. It did not play to his strength by encouraging a long game.

[Turn 10]So Zib sacrifices indonesia for the initiative (that means being on the attack) and azazel lets him take e china and keep on attacking with access to azazels bonuses inevitable. You might cringe at Zibiks stack in indo being wiped out but this is Really bad for Az, and pretty much gg at the end of turn 10. What should az have done differently? 1. Picked better. He ended up with huddled but exposed bonuses in russia and no good attacking options 2. Moved his stack back from indonesia to e china. He may not have been able to clear zibik and retake his bonus but he could have crashed the stacks into each other and left zib with only a small stack, and thus made it difficult to hop tibet, xinjiang and keep e china and indonesia from azazel. 3. guess better. If he had guessed that zib would go all in to hawaii he could have done the same and then zib would simply have wasted armies in japan.

PS:

He did exactly what you hoped he would and it wasnt exactly easy to turn it into a win. That usually indicates that there was a better strategy available to you. The problem with countering a small bonus is that it costs you almost as much as him, and there is no threat of you clearing him, but there is a threat of him clearing you. So he can choose to expand elsewhere or to keep smashing you and can change his mind whenever he wants or whenever some luck goes his way. He has the initiative and one small mistake from you will cost you a lot.

Why did you attack into scand first rather than last?

You lost it on turn 3. You guessed wrong he would hit in scand so you didnt complete a bonus and he did. When you counterpick its essential that your other picks be safe. Unfortunately for you he had ant and just as he got a higher income than you, he got contact with your "safe" bonus, thats gg.

Broadly speaking yes you lost on picks, but probably not for the reason you thought.

dead piggy: thanks for the analysis.

Miyagi: turn 5 you should have invested everything in breaking africa. or invest everything in the north, sidestep with 4 in africa and blockade south africa.

Where would you say the game changed from being equal to me having the upper hand/ the win? My turn around 27 I would say it was very even or him being ahead, but his lack of blockade in smaerica was definitely a big factor in me winning. what do you think?
