I have just made public my first map, called 'Lebanese Israeli War (eastern mediterranean)'. please give it a try and let me know what you think. as the name suggests it´s a map of lebanon and israel with cyprus, sinai and golan included. i would love to hear your feedback as this is my first. enjoy!

I like the look of the map, it's nice and clean but your city bonuses are a bit too overpowered.

Typhoon, so do you think the capital bonuses are a detriment to the game play? my idea was to put this emphasis on the capitals to give the game a different dynamic, whereby controlling these capitals should be the main objective thus leading to some interesting battles. i´d like to know if your experience showed that these bonuses affected the game play negatively.
cheers for the feedback
by the way the map is at: http://WarLight.net/SinglePlayer.aspx?PreviewMapID=7589 if anyone else would like to feedback.

Well, as I see it now, it's a game about who can get the first one or two capitals first. After that the game is pretty much over. A person tried changing Scandinavia to 9 in one tournament I played ("Mirror Earth" was the map) and that completely took the strategy out of it; however, city bonuses can be quite fun, take a close look at the "Big Poland" map that has city bonuses laid out perfectly. As the map is now, most of the games will end before turn 5.

and some of the starting positions are highly unbalanced due to it.. take the capitals map.. you have 5 starting positions, 2 are awesome, the other 3 are near guaranteed slaughter.
the Intifada starting positions.. team B starts with a capital, the other capital is equal distances from both teams.. aka, team B wins

2006 war, even though it seems fairly balanced at first glance, A can, in 3 turns, increase his bonus by 3, and eliminate his need to worry about defending his entire border, thus higher concentration on breaking B's bonus(s)..

i have to admit, that the imbalances where not lost on me. i kinda wanted it to be less symmetrical and more realistic -testing the strategic capacities of players to the limit. but since i imagined it to be mainly a 1v1 or 2v2 map i thought that on the whole it would be balanced. it just requires a totally different plan of action depending on your starting position.
it is also far more dynamic if you play it with multiple attack mode, allowing deep surges that can make the game very unpredictable.
in all cases i have only tested it with AI, which showed that there were ways to win weather you start from the north or the south. but that´s AI! the true test is with you guys testing it in real game play. if it turns out that the unusual bonus schemes are detrimental and mean that the game only lasts few turns, then please let me know coz im already starting work on a new map (Arnhem -op market garden) and i´m planning to have unusual bonus schemes there too. so any feedback would be greatly appreciated so i dont end up making an unplayable map.
cheers guys, im still a total noob here and already i love the community around this game.
