I think league play is a really fun idea so I decided to start my own. It would be similar format as the [20]league that is currently forming only the requirements for entry are less stringent. (If you're thinking of the NIT tournament in college basketball, you understand kinda what I'm going for)

Requirements: 50+ games played, >50% 1v1 win rate

Format:Players will be divided into RRs of 7-10 with the top 4 in each going to a double elimination playoff(for example 40 players would make for 4 RRs with a 16 player playoff)

If you're interested let me know here or on the website http://warlightleague.blogspot.com/

Also I'm thinking our league's logo should be an ABA basketball.

You have a false premise...you seem to think that [20] represents the best players here.

It doesn't.

I would play, but I don't meet 50%. I start a bunch of games I don't have time to finish, and don't really care about the number on my profile.

I'll go ahead and take the names down of anyone who is interested, even if you don't quite make the requirements(just don't have a big boot rate).
If there is enough interest in the league I'll split the league into a top and bottom half. If not we'll all be in the same one. I'm hoping to make this thing as inclusive as possible.

List updated. The plan right now is to keep enrollment open until tuesdayish and then divide up the divisions and get started. Website is up and is pretty much in its final form. Its bare bones but I don't plan to use it for much more than a place to keep the standings updated.

Still playing things by ear but it certainly looks like we'll have enough interest to get started early next week.

Questions:

What map will be used?
What settings will be used (primarily luck rate)?
Would name change be required?

For the first season we would be using standard autogame/ladder 1v1 settings on medium earth with 3 day boot.

I'm trying to keep it as simple as possible to start off with just to make sure things run smoothly. Once we see a season played out there may be other leagues for different settings and possibly 2v2 or 3v3(although I'm leaning towards keeping it 1v1). One thing I'd love to try is a league with multiple maps. This wouldn't be too hard as it would basically be a RR for each map and then I would just add the wins and losses on a spreadsheet for the standings. But again, I'm getting ahead of myself.

As for luck settings I can't imagine ever using anything above 16 percent. Ditto for automatic distribution and card settings that aren't equal (ie settings where it is possible for the players to get different cards each turn)

No name change required. I view the proving grounds as a place where members of any affiliation, clan, club, guild or consortium can come together to test their mettle. Also from season to season people can come and go as they wish. The less rules and obligations the better.
