I'm on "a different approach" and I had a run where I was doing well but I forgot to do any attack orders for a turn. Is there any way to prevent this from happening?

Not that I know of. I still make that mistake now sometimes (too used to diplomacy games, so I forget to attack). As you get used to it, you'll make that mistake less and less.

On multiplayer, you can Modify Orders, but you can't on Single Player. You'll have to take more care when reviewing orders.
