Somebody MUST make a map of an atom or a cell or something, I'm prob not going to since im still in chem ;)

An atom seems like it would be fairly boring to me since its primarily centralized and there isn't much in the way of sensible bonuses. A molecule would make more sense but would have to have some relevance to most and be large enough (caffeine perhaps?)

Hmm... What about a Bohr Model of a uranium atom. Each electron could be a territory and each orbital or half-orbital could be a bonus. Also, each neutron and proton could be a territory. I would love to see a map like this made. I would make it myself, but I'm using a public computer and cannot download Inkscape :(

Most organic molecules consists of a "backbone" with some branches tacked on, they resemble a central chokepoint, with some almost one dimensional corridors leading to it. That doesn't sound like a very interesting battle.

I did find a possible candidate though, [vitamin B12](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_B12) ([alternative illustration](http://www.jonesken.com/vitaminX.png)). On the top half, sure all those CNOH2 branches will be a little boring, but the centre looks interesting. And the bottom half at least has two connections to the top half (not much, but a lot better than the single connection in most organic molecules).

If you look at inorganic compounds, molecules tend to be rather small, which also makes them unsuitable for a map.

@Richard Sharpe, Moros:
Caffeine and glucose could work, but only for a two player map I think. My reasoning is for "multi" player maps.

RvW, agreed on 2 player limit. I wasn't aware of the composition when I said it... both are only 24 atoms so very weak maps.

Soron,
Have U238 would be a sizable map (330 territories) as you described it but very centralized. The vast majority of the territories would be in one big cluster and they would have to be flattened to make it 2D. There would be no obvious bonuses, just arbitrary clustering and in the end it would be little different than the hex maps already available.
