Actually, I'd be interested as well. Is it possible to build an independent map for just your own use, or does it have to be added to the public maps to be used period? Reason I ask is I'd prefer some private testing time to see if what I attempt is remotely worth a crap :)

Right now you build the map and can test play it as much as you want on the test server which is separate from the live server. So you can see if the idea pans out and play it as much as you like before others see it. Other people who use the test server will have access to it though once you mark it as playable on the test server. However I don't think many people use it.

I am wondering, is it possible to have an extra bonus once you own a few complete bonus area? For example, in the world map we have now, the US is divided into East US and West US as separate bonus area, is it possible to have a setting so that you can get an extra bonus if you own like both East and West US in the same turn on top of the original bonus?

Sure, a map designer could define a third bonus that contains (overlaps) the two existing ones.

hi snooty chimp here wanted to know if it was possible for a guy like me to create a map i got some cool ideas and wanted to see if they work

whenever you play a game with ruthless you should ridicule him for never finishing his europe map. he's been trying to build it for months but hasn't made much progress.

Europe sounds like it would be a good map, have you guys thought about a tropical island map. think about it...

It's on my to-do list. Eventually the map design system will be completely automated on the live site, so anyone can design maps at will. However, that system isn't built yet, so today map designers have to jump through a few extra hoops.
