Are we making a distinction between unique players and unique accounts? The responses are inconsistent on which is being measured.

Well, I suspected its not possible to get how many of them are alts so... Of course, if there is any way thats what I ask for.

In total there are around 740 000 accounts. Fizzer have said in Twitch stream as well, that are hundred of thousands of players, but do you really think that? Even if every 10th made account sticks to the game would be quite optimistic measure of real player-base and from that you can subtract the alts.

The best estimate you can get is to look at ladder players (think what proportion of players there are), then look open games + multi-day games, and consider around equal proportion of hidden games or pre-seated ones + prerequisites you can´t see. Now think of an average player: how many games he/she has open, how long an average game lasts and how many players on average a game has? There is no right answer, just estimates. To me it is not even near to a 100 000 thousand.

There have been between 8,571,269 games played since I registered, which boils down to 6,100 games per day. That's perhaps a more useful measurement of activity than trying to guess how many people play IMO.

an average player plays mostly the 1v1 RT autogames. an none of us have even heard of him.

Knyte is partially retired, I believe, so I don't think you'll get an answer from him. DanWL is the next best for this kind of data, so yeah, listen to him ^^

Not that it matters, I was just reminded by spamming for some reason.

If anything, spamming could artificially inflate people's views of how active the forums are.

I think all spammers should be banned permanently, as tricking people into thinking the forums are fast-paced is wrong.

@Bane There's over 70 spam accounts included. There are also some accounts that are deleted-from being invited but declining the invite. The first 4500ish player IDs don't exist, so I didn't include them.

@Shread I can't get the data automatically, but I can get it effectively in a couple of hours when I'm not busy.

The number comes from player ID-s. Like DanWL calculates them. I am just lazy enough not to find the latest registered player. Then compare it to first registered player - Fizzer.

Games per day solely is not exactly better estimate. If this would be juxtaposed with accounts created daily, then you could get quite good activity data. But again none of it tells you how many are there daily/weekly players and so on.
I have no idea how to collect data on games activity effectively, but if someone has data of games created per month I´d be interested in it. But all declined, deleted, unfilled games have also ID-s which makes them false on statistics.
