When a game expires and no longer counts toward your rating, it should also no longer count to the "how many times you've played a player" count when it determines who you should be paired against. Right now, in the ladder, I am either getting paired against nobody, or getting paired against people who are around 20th or so. I've played most of the top 10 players 3-4 times, but not a single one of those games happened in the last 3 months. Why are they still being used to prevent me from playing those players again? What is the value in a ladder where none of the top 10 actually play against each other?
My last pairing against a top 10 player was against Heyheuhei, and that game was over 3 months ago.
I understand that people don't want to just play the same player over and over again, but the way the pairings are set up now, you'll play a guy 3 times in a row and then never play them again.
I see this as a pretty big problem.
