Welcome to Turn 13 of The Impaller versus The World, a game that everyone gets to participate in! For more information about the game, view this blog post.

Here's how the game started, for reference:

The winning item from last time was number 8: Extreme Brazil stacking for OP attack next turn - weaker attacks into CA this turn.

Play reinforcement card. Deploy 5 to Nunavut, 1 to Nuuk, 5 to Columbia, 11 to Brazil. Attack/transfer to Colombia with 6 armies from Venezuela. Attack/transfer to Brazil with 17 armies from Venezuela. Attack Northwest Territories with 7 from Nunavut. Attack Quebec with 4 from Nuuk. Transfer only 1 from Columbia to Brazil. Attack Nigeria with 4 from Brazil. Attack Panama with 4 from Columbia. Attack Cuba with 4 from Venezuela.

Here's what we did:

Here's the outcome:

  • The World plays a reinforcement card for 5 armies

  • The World: Deploy 5 to Nunavut

  • The World: Deploy 1 to Nuuk

  • The World: Deploy 5 to Colombia

  • The World: Deploy 11 to Brazil

  • The World: 6 armies transferred to Colombia from Venezuela

  • The World: 17 armies transferred to Brazil from Venezuela

  • The World: 7 armies captured Northwest Territories from Nunavut. 3 attacking armies killed, 4 defending armies killed.

  • The World: 4 armies captured Quebec from Nuuk. 1 attacking armies killed, 2 defending armies killed.

  • The World: 1 army transferred to Brazil from Colombia

  • The World: 4 armies captured Nigeria from Brazil. 1 attacking armies killed, 2 defending armies killed.

  • The World: 4 armies captured Panama from Colombia. 2 attacking armies killed, 2 defending armies killed.

  • The World: 4 armies captured Cuba from Venezuela. 1 attacking armies killed, 1 defending armies killed.

  • The World still has an order delay and order priority card. 3/5 order delay, 13/19 blockade, 1/6 order priority, 1/4 reinforcement.

Here are our options:

  1. Take South America going heavy into Argentina, advance in Africa, mild advancement in Canada, take Mexico.

Deploy 1 to Northwest Territories, 2 to Quebec, 3 to Cuba, 4 to Panama, 2 to Nigeria, 5 to Brazil. Use Order Priority Card. Attack Argentina with 26 from Brazil, attack only Argentina with 6 from Colombia, attack Ontario with 4 from Quebec, attack Yukon with 4 from Northwest Territories, attack Bolivia with 4 from Brazil, attack Chad with 4 from Nigeria, attack Mexico with 5 from Panama, attack/transfer Mexico with 5 from Cuba.

  2. Take Canada, attempt to take South America, advance in Africa, attempt to take Mexico.

Deploy 9 to Northwest Territories, 2 to Quebec, 1 to Cuba, 2 to Panama, 2 to Nigeria, 1 to Brazil. Use Order Priority Card. Attack Argentina with 22 from Brazil, attack only Argentina with 6 from Colombia, attack Ontario with 4 from Quebec, attack Yukon with 4 from Northwest Territories, attack British Columbia with 4 from Northwest Territories, attack Alberta with 4 from Northwest Territories, attack Bolivia with 4 from Brazil, attack Chad with 4 from Nigeria, attack Mexico with 3 from Panama, attack/transfer Mexico with 3 from Cuba.

  3. Mild advancement in Canada, attempt to take South America, 2-attacks into Mexico, push hard into Africa.

Deploy 1 to Northwest Territories, 2 to Quebec, 1 to Panama, 13 to Nigeria. Use Order Priority Card. Attack Argentina with 21 from Brazil, attack only Argentina with 6 from Colombia, attack Chad with 15 from Nigeria, attack Ontario with 4 from Quebec, attack Yukon with 4 from Northwest Territories, attack Bolivia with 4 from Brazil, attack Mexico with 2 from Panama, attack/transfer Mexico with 2 from Cuba.

  4. Take Canada, expand everywhere else.

Deploy 9 to Northwest Territories, 2 to Quebec, 2 to Nigeria, 4 to Ufa. Use Order Priority Card. Attack Argentina with 21 from Brazil, attack only Argentina with 6 from Colombia, attack Ontario with 4 from Quebec, attack Yukon with 4 from Northwest Territories, attack British Columbia with 4 from Northwest Territories, attack Alberta with 4 from Northwest Territories, attack Eastern Kazakhstan with 4 from Ufa, attack Bolivia with 4 from Brazil, attack Chad with 4 from Nigeria, attack Mexico with 2 from Cuba, transfer only 1 to Mexico from Panama.

So looks like Imp finally decided to really spice things up here (which he had to do eventually as he was ultimately going to lose the battle of attrition) so we again have a lot of options to look at and a lot less intel to go off of. We should probably start to assume that Imp either has (or will very soon have) South Africa, Australia and Indonesia to go with his East Africa and India bonuses putting him at a 24 income per turn. If we can manage to take Canada and South America this turn, we could get up to 26 for next turn but I think it's pretty likely that he's gonna defend Argentina pretty hard. I also think it's pretty important that we start pushing the issue in Africa and threaten some of his bonuses while we still hold the lead (it would be really nice if we can take Congo next turn and border 2 of his sets on 5 different fronts). Ultimately with the fact that Imp is spreading and we don't know exactly how well, I'm thinking it's pretty important that we take Canada this turn but other than that, I'm definitely open to suggestions from the masses.

PS - Please note the time to vote window. Because Imp delayed this a bit with his vacation, we don't quite have the week to debate like we normally have and I didn't want to stretch this turn out for a week and a half so I've decided to keep the cutoff for this Saturday (August 6th) at midnight (as per usual) and I should have the next turn up at some point this Sunday. So let's deliberate but make sure you cast your vote in time!

I like #4. It's exactly what I'd do this turn.

I think you undersell it with that description though. You should end up with Canada and South America, set up defense in Kaz and a confrontation in Africa.

I suspect that Imp will not defend SA heaviliy this turn and will instead go for Chad in force. So you might move that attack to last.

I'm also not sure about the attack-only from Argentina. It would be nice to have the extra 6 in position to grab CA next turn and set-up our future "safe" expansion in West US and a bust through HA. The question is whether you seriously think 21 is not going to be enough. I'm really unsure. So default is to really make sure we get SA and delay takign CA. hence 4.

I think 2 is good as well, I just don't want to be surprised by Imp in Kaz.

Actually, I like 2 better -- :)

If he went into Kaz last turn, there's nothing our exploritory 4 is going to do for us and knocking Imp out of CA might take him out of the America's altogether.

Number 2 it is.

I might tweak 2 a tiny bit though, to move 1 army from the attack into Argentina from Brazil over tyo the attack into Chad. 22 doesn't get you more than 21 and 5 gets you 1 more than 4 on average. I would also make the CHad attack last.

Basically -- i like most of these choices, but I think taking canada this turn is better than not takign it, so 2 and 4 are preferrable.

I like 2. It's the aggressive route and we need to keep pressure on him. He probably went for Australia that turn and also moved towards us in Caucasus

Really? No love for option 3? We get more bang for our buck by threatening a 4 and a 3 in Africa than we do by taking a 4 in South America. We can get Canada next turn easily, so the question is whether one extra turn of five income is more valuable than moving east one turn earlier. There's a good chance that Impaller sends a large army on a first move attack to prevent us from bordering him, so a small force has the risk of getting wiped out. We need position here. Charge hard.

I just realized option 3 isn't even aggressive enough. I want to use the order priority to get Chad, not Argentina. Argentina's nice and all, but I want to be in Chad with a big army first.

Makes sense to me Duke, and the only reason I have the 6 from Colombia on attack only is in case Imp gets cute with his Central America boys and tries to come border us on Colombia & Venezuela fronts while letting us take South America and trap all our troops in Argentina. #2 will be updated as follows:

  1. Take Canada, attempt to take South America, advance in Africa, attempt to take Mexico.

Deploy 9 to Northwest Territories, 2 to Quebec, 1 to Cuba, 2 to Panama, 3 to Nigeria. Use Order Priority Card. Attack Argentina with 22 from Brazil, attack only Argentina with 6 from Colombia, attack Ontario with 4 from Quebec, attack Yukon with 4 from Northwest Territories, attack British Columbia with 4 from Northwest Territories, attack Alberta with 4 from Northwest Territories, attack Bolivia with 4 from Brazil, attack Mexico with 3 from Panama, attack/transfer Mexico with 3 from Cuba, attack Chad with 5 from Nigeria.

E - I agree that if you attack Argentina from Columbia it should be attack only. I was just contemplating moving those 6 up into CA a turn earlier. But ultimately my choice is your revised 2 all the way. Thx.
