I personally turn on autoboot to avoid later conflicts of who boots who, so I set the autoboot time the same as the direct boot time. But I see some people set those times differently, and I wonder what's the reason for that? That doesn't seem to solve the problem.

The direct boot timer allows for some discretion. The auto-boot is cold and heartless. I can definitely see using both in different ways, depending on the type of game or tournament I was creating.

It boots. That's what it does. That's all it does. Come with me if you want to live.

Basically when people do that the direct boot is there in case the game needs to go quick and the tell players when they should move. The the autoboot is there to kick them if people have time and aren't in a rush.

I hear a lot of people say "just wait until the autoboot" when people go over the direct boot time.

I hate people who boot when people are just over the direct boot time...

I usually set 5 minute direct, 10 minute auto. The direct boot is there for repeat offenders, the auto is there for people who are just taking way too long for one turn. I have started informing people that this is my policy and if they boot just over 5 for a first offence I will usually blacklist them.

I agree with PROGAMER completely. I've played alot of games like that and usually tell people to waiting until the autoboot time. or atleast double the direct boot time.
