Seriously, we need a nice, calm thread. Everyone has been acting harshly, and we need to step back and have a good laugh. And the best place is politics.

Only 7% of EU citizens are atheists, which is actually below the world percentage of 10-16% (Sources disagree).

Needs less.

Also, 7% are atheist in the sense they firmly deny there is a God, while 16% are just agnostic (won't assume anything), also, the Christians are pretty lax. Most don't go to church weekly.

That's not what we're talking about here though, the term you used was "Atheist".

Some ambiguity over the word. Compare agnostic:

Agnosticism is the view that the truth values of certain claims – especially metaphysical and religious claims such as whether God, the divine, or the supernatural exist – are unknown and perhaps unknowable.

Pretty alike.

Not really, it's just that the limitations of our language require that we use similar vocabulary to describe related positions (The relation is that they both reject theism, that's pretty much it).

The distinction is in the perception of the truth value of the existence of God, which I believe was mentioned in the wikipedia definition. Atheists believe that the idea of God has no truth value, and therefore reject it, whereas Agnostics believe that the idea of God does have a truth value, they simply choose to not hold a belief in God for one reason or another.

The relation is that they both reject theism, that's pretty much it.

That's a pretty big relation, and agnosticism is really just atheism in the broadest sense. It just depends on what meaning your source wielded. But I think 20% of the EU polled that "they don't believe in any god, spirit, or life force".

Furthermore, by atheism, what I meant to say was "irreligion".
