Socialism gives states more power to do as they wish, by giving over large parts of the economy over to them. Communism is much better than socialism, and in a libertarian style country, it can exist much easier than in a socialist state, which would most likely break up any communes and tax them heavily.

Read a history book. Without the Red Army, half of Europe would have been enslaved under Nazism.

Nearly 11 million soldiers. Over 15 million civilians. Virtually 14% of the Soviet population was wiped out by the Nazi’s from 1941 to 1945.

It’s hard to come to grasps with the severity and savagery of such numbers. 60% of Soviet families lost at least one person from the nuclear family. For every 100 18-year-olds drafted for the war in 1941, only 3 returned home. The Red Army rescued half of the European continent: 16 modern nations single-handedly, and another 6 with allied support. The combined population of the territories was about 120 million, the entire population of Mexico today. Not to mention their liberation of the Jewish concentration camps, including Auschwitz and Majdanek.

The Soviet Army did more than any other country to defeat Nazi Germany, even under seemingly impossible odds. By early 1943, at the height of the German invasion, Russia had lost over 1.25 million square miles of territory. The vast majority of Hitler’s army and 75% of his heavy military hardware were concentrated on the Eastern Front facing Russia: 5 million German soldiers, 5400 artillery pieces, 54600 mortars, 3000 warplanes, and 4000 tanks. By the end of the war, the Soviets had destroyed 70% of the enemy’s forces. Out of 13.5 million German casualties, 10 million of them were inflicted in the East. The USSR fought over 600 German Divisions on 5000 kilometers of front line territory over three years. When combined American, English, and Canadian soldiers arrived on the beaches of Normandy to fight only 11 Nazi Divisions, Soviet soldier were fighting the other 228 German Divisions left on the Eastern Front. For every German the Americans killed, the Soviet Union killed 80. The Eastern Front saw 1320 days of combat. North Africa saw 309 and Italy only 49.

Estonians and Balts were not too happy about sacrficing their lives in defence of their "homeland", the Soviet Union. Although today, there is almost a dangerous glorification of those who fought against the Soviets, including those of course who worked with the Nazis, mainly in Latvia, though.
