Here is a game on Ancient China:

The map is super weird as are the bonuses and it's light fog. Makes for interesting games though.

You also get 3 airlifts that don't replenish, and an abandon (now called emergency blockade) that also doesn't replenish.

And opponent's cards are visible.

I love strat me, french brawl, snow mountain MA, less great but still awesome: Battle island MA, guiroma, greece, treasure map.

I don't enjoy Ancient china as much but overall your templates are absolutely great for me!

Could replace turkey as the LD template. I've only played one game on it but it feels much quicker and more fun than turkey LD.

The template might need to have the capitals removed though, Luxembourg is too good of a pick.

About points... Ineffable originally seemed to just pick nice round values that seemed right, but his methodology wasn't completely arbitrary: season 2 points resemble an exponential function with respect to number of rounds won in the loser's bracket. Meanwhile tomjh is suggesting a quadratic function based on number of rounds won in the loser's bracket, which doesn't skew tournament wins so heavily. I'm inclined to use something similar to tomjh's method.

In a 64 player double elimination tournament, there are 11 total losers bracket rounds (going 0-2 means you win 0, winning the tournament means you win 11). After some heuristic experimentation I've come up with the formula points = 4x^2 + 10x + 5 where x is the number of losers bracket rounds won. This generates the following points table; I also scaled down the points from season 2 to sort of match the point totals I generated so you can see a rough comparison:

1st - 500 (1000)
2nd - 415 (600)
3rd - 338 (400)
4th - 269 (300)
5-6th - 208 (200)
7-8th - 155 (150)
9-12th - 110 (100)
13-16th - 73 (75)
17-24th - 44 (50)
25-32nd - 23 (25)
33-48th - 10 (12.5)
49-64th - 5 (5)

So the proportion of points in the earlier rounds are about the same, but places 1-4 are nerfed, particularly the top two places. I think this is a good balance between requiring players to finish high, but doesn't give too much weight to placing first.

Sounds like I should stop talking and start generating the roster for season 3. Still have to figure out playoffs before I do that though. feh. i guess people can maybe expect private emails this weekend as i figure out who from season 2 will play season 3.
