Seriously, what's up with everyone complaining about getting booted. No one broke any rules here. Just blacklist them and never play with him again. If you frequently have trouble getting your moves in before boot time, then play games with longer boot times or just play multi day games. I always turn on auto boot these days because I really can't stand those people complaining about boots.
If you're about to win, that's when you're most vulnerable to a boot. After all that's the only chance the other players have to pull it out. Is it unsportsmanlike? Certainly. But what were you thinking going over when you were down to mop-up time. If you have an emergency and alert the other players and they still boot, I'd understand being really pissed off. But random opps, in a 5 minute boot game, playing out obviously losing positions, will boot you at least half the time (without a small community, this forum and blacklisting, that would be 95% of the time). I understand why it pissed you off, but take common sense precautions in that situation.
Interestingly, had you not had the AI surrender when only one player was left, your AI would've won that game for you. A sort of immunity from loss by booting for a truly overwhelming position.
Yep. As I've said numerous times before, you can't really trust random other players to do the "honorable" thing in games like this. People generally have a win at all costs kind of mentality and don't really care what it takes to achieve that.
Avoid playing in games with low boot times or just make suboptimal moves if you're so far ahead. If you never go over the boot timer, then you never have to rely on random strangers to do the honorable thing. It doesn't matter how good your orders are if you're not in the game anymore. I've played 5 minute or 10 minute boot games on Big USA or East Asia (not recommended) and it gets to a point in the game where you just slam out like 50 armies here and there, make a few moves and then just submit to avoid going over the boot time. Not the best moves you could make, but you don't really have time to diddle around.
I have to agree with ball..... but if u can read the chat, pls read the last things i said there.... the game was taking a while, several players had been booted, and i thought he had left because of that..... but i have to agree wioth him, and disagree witht he people saying that i was right for booting him.... boot time is a reference, i can boot him after 5, but it is not a rule
