There's a discussion going on on the wiki on how to call the superbonus page (http://wiki.warlight.net/index.php/Talk:Super_Bonuses). Here's a list of arguments I heard so far, and I would like to know your opinion.

Super bonus:
  • Superbonus isn't a word
  • Creating new words is improper

Superbonus:
  • Creating new words is not illegal.
  • Superman is also without a space, as are all words that start with super.
  • Super is not an adjective but a prefix, therefore it must be attached to the word.

Please tell me what you think on the subject, I think superbonus is spelled without a space.

I think the word 'superbonus' has been created though usage and I think 'super bonus' is indeed a misuse of the prefix 'super'. Although I guess 'super' has also become an adjective through usage...

Why not compromise and go for something no one likes, for example 'super-bonus'?

Superman is a noun. The name of a person. The same example could be used if you called yourself Fredbob. It would still be one word. But as super is describing a bonus as being big instead of it being named superbonus then it should be 2 separate words. Super bonus.

creating new words isn't improper, it is highly effective on keeping language fitted to our needs, some even suspect that that is how our languages came into being :o

'Superman' is a name, where the word 'super' could be used to describe things, such as, "I'm feeling super today."

Macrobonus. Regional bonus. Megabonus. Kingdom bonus. Empire bonus. Etc. Why must it be super at all, as if all larger bonuses are equal? I've always disliked super bonus and superbonus as words, for multiple reasons.

I believe we can do it with a hyphen(super-bonus). My spellchecker says that's correct.

when one uses the word superbonus in warlight, they arent referring to a bonus that is super, which would be a super bonus, they are referring to a specific type of bonus which makes it one word, with super as a signifying part of the bonus, so superbonus or super-bonus

And you can't trust spell-checkers on this one, since spell-checkers will approve any two words with a hyphen between them, such as flabbergasting-catfish. It sees them as two different words.

And you can say: "My day was super!"
But you can't say "I have had a super day!"

Moros I have a better question. Why do you change your name to moros. Every 20 days?

Why, obviously he doesn't want to accidentally change his name to something stupid like "JumpingBobTaco", so he changes his name every twenty days so that he won't have the option to change his name for twenty more days! It's an ingenious strategy; I'm going to change my name right now.

We can compromise by calling it a "Super-Bonus".

Of course you can say "I have had a super day" What on Earth is wrong with that? It's perfectly correct.

You can say you've had a bad day, in the same way you can have had a super day.

When you say 'have had' like this, you are using what is called the present perfect tense.

Creating new words is improper

No it isn't, that's silly.

Super is not an adjective but a prefix, therefore it must be attached to the word.

No, super is also an adjective.

Adding a hyphen is nonsensical compromise.

"Super bonus" or "Superbonus", either one works. But you're better off, as Gui said, using something other than super. Super sounds a bit juvenile to me.
