Check the chat, jacek2121 said he was playing as the other guy, I'm sceptical, as I've pm'd SzamoT an he didn't say he was jacek2121,
Thought let y'all know, I'm blacklisting him.
Is there any way to know if he ws playing on 2 computers from same place, ip checks?

There are all sorts of ways to check it, and all of them can be fooled, so what's the point.

I'm not sure if WL has any checks for this sort of thing. Other games do, and if it isn't being done already, I think it's probably a good idea to only allow one player from each IP to play in a game.

Matama is right that it could be fairly easily circumvented, but it would potentially at least deter the casual cheaters.

but that doesn't work always. for example, my girlfriend and I play from the same apartment.....only one of us would be allowed into a game, and that's stupid

Only allowing one player from each IP to play in a game would prevent a few things. One is multiple Warlight players from the same household to play with each other in a team game.

The other is to prevent the idea that I haven't yet brought to fruition but will one day be done, which is a team game where one player plays as both players on the same team using multiple accounts.

Right, if something like this were implemented, I don't think it should apply to players on the same team.

could limit people playing on the same MAC address.. that *should* limit people from playing on the same computer, but not the same IP

thats better, but again perrin, what about people like my girlfriend and I who use the same computer often, just at different times....

that would be problematic, and is a decision that the game designer has to choose on.. whether a few people cheating, generally with free accounts, is more important to stop then a few people in your situation being unable to play with each other due to your situation.

I could understand him taking either standpoint, and suspect he would not, and has not, implemented a restriction purely for that reason.

I don't think MAC addresses are transmitted outside the local network. And I doubt Flash has the ability to get that information from the client machine.

What about having the possibility to report a suspicious game or player, for moderators' analysis?
In most cases they could determine whether 2 players were played by the same person, by simply observing suspicious moves (for example, collaborating without reason & without chat). IP check, while not meaning anything alone, could strongly help to confirm suspicions.

I think it's safe to say that if 2 players are playing from the same IP, and collaborate abnormally, they are cheating.

For this particular game, you have no idea whether or not Pink and Blue were the same person. Blue had an open field to expand and he expanded in all directions. Pink and Yellow were fighting from the very beginning. All he has to go off of is the chat

the only attack that blue missed was in that direction, which would of been folly if he had been playing both of them..

I definitely wish there was a way to track computers as oppose to IP.

My place has lightning fast internet and I was thinking of setting up RISK tournaments in one house, like everyone has their own computer/laptop but allowing only one IP would make that impossible.

This certainly isn't completely unfair though, and it's not like this would absolutely kill some Warlight players, for me I just couldn't do that one time thing.

Is it possible to block same IP addresses for multiple accounts on just day games?

If we're talking realistically here, it would take a hell of a lot of commitment for a player to act as two users in a 5 min game right?

That's not totally true -- he did load up on the west side. If they are cheating they're bad at it. Both profiles show mostly losses and only this 1 win in 3 FFA.

He also played both very quickly, well under 2 minutes. Probably the thing about it that woudl worry me most if the disparate boot times for vote to boot vs direct boot (2 minutes and 10 minutes). You would assume you have 10 minutes in a 3 FFA, until it gets down to the final 2. But if they're the same person it's really a 2 minute boot timer.

It appears Bonch never went over 2 minutes -- wouldv'e been conclusive if he had.
