im not proposing knyte, just informing that Fizzer was (or still is) looking for qualified people in computer science, and I know that knyte is highly qualified already and has a great knowledge.

UI/UX design isn't quite the same as programming, although there's likely a bit of overlap with frontend given the size of WL. I guess that post also gives us hope that Fizzer's reworking the entire interface, not just tournaments, so that's pretty solid.

I also love how the URL says "graphic designer" but the post asks for "UI/UX." Finding an all-rounder seems to be a typical dilemma for startups- I know one (pretty successful, you've probably heard of it and it's definitely got the money to attract talent) that's been trying for 14 months now. Hope WL succeeds there.

EDIT: You're also overrating my qualifications lol. I'm still just a sophomore who much prefers working with embedded systems to high-level programming.

Yeah, I saw that too in the description. I am not sure exactly what they are looking for. I mean I have some experience in a variety of things they could use help with, but you may be hard pressed to find an expert in all those areas.

-I have done website design (probably 3-4 of them) in different web programs. So I understand design and flow there, but perhaps not fluent in the language they use.

-I have played with graphic programs like photoshop a fair amount, but again am not an expert there.

-I have a pretty good knowledge of Python, just learning C#, so I would not be anywhere close to an expert on programming.

-I have been a web admin on a big forum site, so I have lots of experience on forum mechanics, but used a built in program (vBulletin), so I would not be an expert on doing it in C# like they are here.

To summarize, I think I have a lot of ways to contribute, but would I be worth hiring? I don't know. I've offered my help for free though on those things because I just want the site to be even better. I am not on WL to make money, I have a development job. It is for fun, and I appreciate the site and what Fizzer has done and I would be glad to give back however I can (beyond the two memberships I have).

I don't think there's necessarily any coding experience required for UI/UX/graphic design. The best designers I know are a few grad students in HCI that I met at BoilerMake and only one of the three could actually code. But the Pebble app they made in <24h would've been extraordinary even if all three of them were full-stack.

Actually, now that I think about it, most UI/UX/graphic designers I know (especially the more successful/sought-after ones), even when they know how to code really well, end up spending the vast majority of their time not even dealing with code and just designing- storyboarding, user-testing, and ultimately coming up with elegant, user-friendly, visually appealing, and often original solutions.

They're the kind of people who I honestly have a bit of difficulty working with because they like to think details through and I just prefer to hit the ground running- you know, move fast and break things rather than think that creatively and keep refining the idea so that more and more people use it. At the end, of course, they're also the ones best fit to market the product because of that.

Given what you've said about your qualifications, and knowing my own, I don't think either of us would be the best candidate for that posting.
