The 3v3 Europe is the only thing I enjoyed playing. Unfortunately, warlight will lose a lot of members due to the restrictions. I'll keep playing I guess but I doubt there will be many 3v3 up for grabs now. I won't complain too much as I won't be paying but that's because I'm not willing to pay for online games.

Fair enough warlight.

Orionov, spend 9600 and countless hours making your own game to combat the evil of greed ;)

Also, you only need one of your friends to purchase an account and then you can have him create all the 3v3 games or any other game type you want.

It's hardly greed. It's not like you have to pay to play period, just certain things are restricted. Fair enough in my opinion. These games can't go on free forever. Everyone likes to see a return on their investment, why should this be any different?

persnally, i don't see it as a return on investment.. i think it's more he has a choice between shutting down warlight, or charging people to play it.. and he decided this was the lesser of two evils.. but idk for sure, no insider information ;)

I'm not sure either but even if he is making some money off of this, why not? He put in a lot of work and effort into the game and kept it free for a very long time and it is still free to a certain extend. If he is making money, I don't begrudge him a bit and am glad for it.

$30 dollars an hour is very cheap. consider, the average american make 11 dollars an hour. the average european makes 8 dollars an hour. so that would be roughly 2 hours 43 minutes for an american to earn $30 dollars. and 3 hours 12 minutes for a european to earn $30 dollars.

Even if your say 15 and don't have a job you could go shovel snow for like $10 a driveway. At a rate of say 1 driveway every 45 minutes you could have $30 in 2 hours 15 minutes.

I myself will be buying membership next pay check!

Please. Let's not turn this into something ugly and divisive... especially now that there is a very visual reminder of who is good and honorable and wonderful and moralistic and who is just a jerk ass free loader.

Many of us free loaders would very much like to see Fizzer have great success but, for whatever reason, are not going to pay $30. And, I can pretty much guarantee you, that for the vast majority it is not because we're evil horrible people.

pep, nobody is saying anything bad about people just because they can't or wont make the payment, just that it is bitchy and bad form and annoying to complain about it.

(though, really, the name calling makes the leaving much quicker and easier... and, conveniently enough, it's back to KOL for me, which I realized today I've spent over $800 on over the last four years in $10-$100 donations. As a freelancer, when the money flows, the money flows. When it doesn't it doesn't.)

name calling?

I was merely pointing out that what Fizzer is doing is the exact opposite of Greedy.. he has spent considerable amount of time/money into this game, and he just needs some help to continue to provide services. Calling it an act of greed is an insult, imho.

and Pepper, it is still playable without the $30...

Guys ...

... what a ridiculous discussion !

Sure, its a bit painful seeing some functions being blocked from gamers that dont want to become members as its always painful when something you liked and posessed is taken away from you. But this is just an instinctive reaction without seeing things in the light of the guy who operates this site.

Moreover, Warlight still offers free games. So just to have some gaming fun still costs nothing. Those who want to do "serious" Warlight gaming, whatever this might be, can surely afford a one-time-fee of 30 USD. If they only invest a small amount of the time they game into earning money they can pay that. Think about what you have to pay to be member of a sports club every year.

So, whats so bad to reward someone for creating a successful game? I myself wont become a member because i cannot really play this game seriously. But if i would i d be willing to pay even more than that.

Perrin, my reply was not merely to you.

Though I do find the "just get a job" attitude a bit insulting. I have a job. A good job and one that I love. It's just that it's a job that comes with the occasional month or two of not getting a paycheck. That means that budgeting is taken rather seriously in my household, especially in the lean times.

And the fact is that something like 45% of Americans are living beyond their means. Bankruptcies have doubled in the last decade and the average carried over balance on credit cards has tripled and is closing in on $10,000. And though the hourly wage may seem large, it has not increased at a rate consistent with most other things (especially education) and you actually have to have a job to get that hourly wage which, in some locations is not nearly as easy as it would seem to be.

But that isn't the point.

We all knew that there would be bitching and moaning when paid membership was added. People bitch whenever there is a change but especially so when there's one that hits their wallet. Most of those bitching, will bitch once and then leave forever. There is no need to create an us & them attitude about it... most of those the feelings were actually geared to will never see it, but in the process the bitching about them and their free loading ways has managed to foster a negative classist society where some can claim some sort of superiority over the others... made all the easier by the distinguishing icon that fizzer has provided.

I have no desire to be a part of that. And it's not because, until May or June when I'd be able to pony up the $30, I'd be one of the free loading jerks, but because I don't find that sort of attitude fun to be around.
